Williams suspensions and brakes

  Clio Williams 2
hey all bought my williams about 4 months ago now and am going through getting it all sorted!!! changed alternator and battery both were done for. had the wheels all resprayed. changed all seats into leather sports, changed pedals and gear stick, also had acoustic parcel shelf put in along with 6 x 9, sub and alpine ipod head unit. and am now ready to change the suspension and brakes. i want a full suspensions kit too lower it to 50m, and will also change all brakes. and would just like some help on what to choose.
Thanks
Dan

Leave the suspension alone ,it was built to handle fantastically without upsetting it by lowering it 50mm.Get some new standard suspesion and get bigger brakes if you must.Forget drilled and grooved rubish. The only thing that will stop you quicker is a larger disc.

cheers, didnt thing that changing the brakes would be worth it, il stick with it standard. but as for suspension do you know what the williams is lowered at standard??

You can't lower a williams 50mm as it'll scrub like mad on the arches and likely crack them too if you hit even so much as a fag end. Most you'll get away with is about 35mm...as for shocks, the std items are more than up to handling lowering springs so either use the existing ones or buy new.

Williams isn't really any lower than a 1.8 16v either as they use the same springs (albeit a different poundage).

no i mean what mil is it lowered at standard, as i need to know to buy a new suspension kit.

I don't know what you mean - standard ride hieght is standard ride hieght?

ok cheers, il buy a whole new suspension kit at 35mm which will come with new shocks any way. and for brakes il just buy some new standard brakes and pads.

No worries.

Rather expensive for a complete kit though IMO...50quid for -35mm springs and 100 for two new std front shocks will give the same performance and be cheaper. Also leaves cash for renewing you brake system?

Just to say be wary of -35mm boge springs as mine came up lower then -35mm and now I have to get one of my arches fixed as it cracked whilst I pulled up onto a gravel path.....also I got the maxtorq disc and pads from www.rallydesign.co.uk and they are slightly better then standard (uprated pads) and cheap as chips.
I agree with u33db about the suspension kit, if you want it lower with less body roll just try some springs first as I am very happy with this set up other then the problem with the wings, -50 would be a total nightmare and you would have to take the arch liners out and all sorts.

cheers lads. but i think while im spending i may aswell spend the extra money on a full kit lol, which will cost me £230 that comes at 35mm. which i am a bit wary off but think il give it a try.
