Won't start...

Hi all I've just finished putting in a gearbox with a nice shiny new diff. It now won't start.

172 cup

Of course i've had it in bits with the battery out etc.

When i put the keys in the ignition and turn it to start the immobiliser light stays on solid as does a stop light new to it and there is also a fluid level light on.

Could the fluid level be water? As i haven't been able to run the engine to allow me to top it up!

What has caused the immobiliser to do this and is the stop light linked to that?

The car does exactly the same with both keys. Very frustrated.

Oh forgot to mention the car isn't even turning over. Just a clicking coming from the ECU area.

Checked fuses?

Starter motor?

Earth straps?

Try a jump lead from the -ive battery to the body (metal part obviously) and see if it starts.

Yep all fuses are ok.

Will be checking all earths and starter motor tomorrow.

Any other ideas?

there is an ecu loom earth on the back of the box you may have forgotten.

goes on an M8 (13 head) bolt near the diff above the driveshaft on the wetside of the box

that causes exactly what your saying

bet its the earth strap that comes of the gearbox , done exactly the same with mine , fires for 2 secs and dies
