Took my box round to a mates 42inch Hitachi and for some reason i could not get the sound to work through a component cable! Whats wrong?

Also im getting a Samsung 32inch next week, is it worth getting the VGA cable?

Depends on TV i prefer the picture though the VGA cable on mine. But some look better using component.

component your restricted to 480p 720p and 1080i/p

VGA cable you can set the res yourself. So mine is currently set to 1360x768 and my tv res is 1366 x 768. So about as close as i can get. Benefit of the VGA cable is it plays DVD's back at those resolutions compared to the 576P it plays them back at via component.

Component Cable only carries a video signal. No Audio

there are rca leads attached to the vga tho.
Also mine came with a digital link for the surround sound.
I prefer the vga too.
Do a search mate..there are loads of topics on this

when you get your samsung panel make sure you put the component feed into game mode in the menu, it smooths it out and makes it look better
