xbox 360 screen use

  Nissan Jewk
Had this connected to my Sony 15" portable tv, qulaity werent too bad, easily playable, but nothing compared to hdtv. Got hold of a VGA cable and connected the 360 to my PC monitor, theres zero difference in quality of graphics other than its brighter?

I was expecting a big change.... :S

When I used a VGA cable I noticed a massive difference but that was on a 37" plasma.. remember HDTV is designed for big screens.. but you should have noticed a big difference.. you did set it to HDTV in the xbox system settings ?

My monitor is just some standard 17" dell jobbie, should I be noticing a huge difference between that and my portable tv? Bear in mind I currently only have Need For Speed, which may not be the best game to test it on.

I'll double check the xbox system settings, i've not dabbled with anything yet tbh!

KDF, do you think it is worth me using a VGA cable then? I have a 42" Plasma HD capable of 720p, 1080i, i am not amazed by the graphics on any game currently.

If you already using HD leads then no... I went from standard leads to HD VGA.

Right, i'm confuzzled. My 17" tft was running on 1280 x 1024. When i started the 360 up, the screen was all off centre? Weird. Went to the xbox dashboard bit, it says I can select a resolution. All of them were x 768?

Changed my tft resolution back to 1024 x 768, but it appears to be the same quality as my 15" Sony portable tv, only brighter. Weird.

Any ideas??
