xmas presents

my dad has caught the detailing bug and intends to keep his new beast for years, and is well aware of the effects of bad washing.

he wants to;

clean without scratches
dry without scratches
clean wheels without scratches

i thought about glimour gun, do you still have to wash with a mitt or can it just do its work and rinse off? and is it only pressure washer compatible or hose too (hose is preferable since our washer has seen better days!)

looking into deionised water filter to let it just sit and drive off with no water marks

looked for and searched for a thread containing the new wheel gel that doesnt need any aggitation and works really well.

can people please fill in the blanks

many thanks in advance

jamie

Some people are using foam and rinse to actually was the car, not convinced myself.

Gilmour works of the hose.

Pre rinse with the Gilmour
Wash 2 bucket method and a few Lambswool Mitts
Another Mitt dedicated to wheel duty
Rinse with filtered water

Most marring comes from the drying stage ...

Has your dad got an R8 then.........?

yes

ok rich, so a list if you please to order up would be

glimour foam master 2
maxisuds?
decent lambs wool schmitt plus buckets (my usual that he uses now anyways)
and then just the filtered water (use of the aqua blade i have and no towel?)

jamie

Gilmour
Pre Foam with Megs Hyper Wash
Eurow Lambswool Mitts
Aquagleam Filtered Water

Wheels - Megs APC or AG Engine and Machine Cleaner

I only use water blades on cars I really don't care about!

  Mito Sportiva 135
I find blades ok to use, just make sure to rinse them off well including the handle before using one.

Having said that, don't use it on my car or any black cars any more.

lol - likewise - Silver 306 gets it though !

presents have been opened and dad is very pleased with them.

i didnt end up getting him a water filter due to the cost of the rest of it (came to quite a lot and to spend another 40 was out of the question!)

will post up results another time.

also ended up getting the super spray instead of glimour as my dads useage wont warrant the "better" and more expensive glimour gun 2
