No money means no major work done over the winter - I wanted to get the head off and inspect the cam, valves and pistons for wear and legality but as the car ran ok at the rolling road - decided this probably wasn't worth the cost and hassle. There's always next winter for that.
What I have done is:
Broken a coil...
Trial fitted a new one...
Got the bonnet wrapped in matt black, it was a state in red!
Changed the cracked/rotten rubber hoses for silicone ones (got a decent deal but had to endure the colour)
Changed the thermostat while the system was drained
Almost finished cosmetically, some white detailing to go on sides of bonnet and proper taping up of lights still to do
...in a similar way to the mockup with electrical tape...
Some fresh rubber (4 new to go with 2 part used and 2 very used)
Had a (cheap) trip to a rolling road, made 77bhp at the wheels so a few up on standard, but a few less than I'd hoped - also the operator said that the power was starting to drop off earlier than it should be by a few hundred rpm, so we've optimised the carb taking this into account. More investigations to follow, engine out for inspection after Cadwell.
