Yes another melting wheel

Went to my car tonight and noticed that the steering wheel has started to deteriorate on one side. When I press my thumb on it, it leaves a thumb print on the affected area. Is this a warranty job? Surely they shouldn't do this. How serious does it have to be to claim on warranty. Mine is up at the end of the month, so if i can get it changed for free bonus.
