Another fun day and it was nice and sunny for a change tho it looked a little dull at times... Some good runs by a few of you out there, was quite impressed by some of the valvers.<FONT color=#ffff00>Managed to get a 15.4 in me standard MK1 172.. Where were the rest of u 172 owners eh?? Only saw another 172 cup and a V6 out there on monday when i went...<FONT color=#ffff00>Gonna get a new zorst soon and after learning how to drive go for a sub 15, he he ;)

Ill defo be at the next one - June 22nd flying the 172 flag :)

  clio 20v

took the ap-22 to the strip with me for a few runs an had a mess with the settings couldnt get it spot on tho always a couple of 10ths out e.g qtr mile 14.4 ap would say 14.6 speeds seemed about right tho

60ft time more or less spot on 1/8th mile slightly out then qaurter slightly out was best with roll factor set at .5 with my coilovers on full stiffness

the 0-60 times on most runs were coming out at low 6s lowest 6.1 which was quite surprisin

Cheeky boy, Rekon i mite ave got down close to a 15 dead if i stayed and played a little longer. anyway i still managed to waste me mates.. unluky G60 golf, MK2 Golf GTI and Seat Ibiza Cupra Sport :D

  mk2 172

bri i wanted to race you so bad! didnt realise it was you off the forum, notice i had my camera ready when i thort i was gonna take a mk1 172 scalp then i didnt get to race you!

you should have said hi to one of us! we dint know who you were

Aye sorry lads, im a shy one

Yea craggy i saw you lining your camera up... kept looking over and thinking one thing "Bugger"

Dunno if you raced my mate in his G60, you mite have gone up against me other mate in his GTI, The G60 is a bit more of a on the road weapon... Has some serious torque and mid range/top end once its actually rolling (rather than just spinning all the way through 1st, he he).

gotta see that vid
Yeah, my point is that the Saff got a good start so no1 can blame it on bogging down or spinning up, jus sheer Cossie bashing in a Clio! :D The commentator was buzzing off u as well saying something like Oww, Adi Burgess from Warrington storms ahead of the Cosworth. It wasnt a blizting cause after all its still a Cosworth but the video is a good picture of u when u power ahead

Mate, find out how i can get it onto the PC, i have no software disc for it, its JVC & the model number is GR-DVL313 Digital Video Camera. I couldnt find out how last time i tried so over to you. Its well worth it and will echo as a lengendary moment on the cliosport site for many years to come. ;)

Yeah, a few; when changing gear urs sounds wicked mate! There is a good 1 of u cause when i showed my Mum the tape she said oww, thats quick, ur doing well there, i didnt correct her. ;)

Clean16v - did I read right that you ran a 14.4?! Thats with a Williams engine in a 16v?! Is the engine supposed to be standard? I swear to god that my Williams would not even get anywhere near that, even if i sent it up the strip with Craggy driving. With extra lead in his boots.

I think I read a post of yours where you said it felt like a mini-turbo kicks in at certain revs. Do you think its possible that your engine has had cams or something at some point in its life?

I want a 14.4 Clio! Would love to know whats been done to that engine to run such a quick time. Have you had it RRd? With the AP22 I can get 18.5 seconds to 100mph, 2 up, but youve been getting 16.5 seconds or so? Mental! I know my engine is running fine as it got a good result at the Nobles RR day as standard, so its not like Im down on power or anything

  mk2 172

cleans is chipped and zorst mods mate that are known of, unlikely there are undisclose unkown of mods but you never know whos owned it, doubtfuk tho

me and mehdi are same in a 0-60 dash then he beats me in third, we had a real close race both puttin in good times, so if you mod ur standard one properly you never know rhys

also had a blast on road and 0-60 was neck and neck

The willy lump is meant to work very well comparitvly with just a chip, de-cat and Xorst, plus cleans coilovers to launch off the line knock a couple of splits off but that is an impressive time considering.

  clio 20v

that engine in cleans was a quick one anyway and mine has only cams and headwork over that

the cams in mine are only a slightly higher lift than willy ones too

not all willy engines seem to be as good tho, plus cleans drivin seems to be good the rate he goes thru gearboxes

my engine was RRd when Adi had it pre-chip and running an IK rather then a modified airbox and it got 137BHP@TW, not too impressive, but with chip and my home made airbox it ran a 14.4@96mph so i reckon its getting to 100 in around 15.5! not the 16.5 i originally thought. although its not just about peak power, also about how much of the rev-range the engine is producing good power........i really have no idea TBH:D

hehe wicked, can u put the york footage u got on a tape for us mate wouldnt mind watching it all

adi

and me a copy too mike, i want to see it! if i get you a VHS do you reckon you could copy all the footage for me? Adi, have you been on CruisinUK? they are all going on about your time at york!

forgot to meantion i was running over 3/4 tank of juice and it was my first time 1/4 miling, got a few tricks up my sleeve to hopefully see 14.3 14.2 next time, im crossing the line at 95mph+ so the potential is defo there for an impressive time! get rid of passenger seat, 1/4 tank of juice with octane booster(if that actually does anything!) drop the front coilovers for better traction, headlight out for direct cold air to throttle and getting tire pressures right! i must see 14.2 with all that!

  Was a Clio 1.8 16v

LOL! Ur right it is addictive mate. ;)

The plan for my next 1/4 miling session is coilovers, forced induction and to get a truly unbeatable 60ft time.

:D, well i dint get a 60ft time less then 2.2 and still managed a 14.4 1/4 so if i can get my starts better, who knows?! can you get us that tape then mate?

  CTR EK9 turbo

why dont you remove your filter element for one trail up the strip? i know it sucks up crap into the injectors or whatever, but not that much for just one run - and keep ya airbox on as normal, just with no element spoiling airflow? just a thought

  Was a Clio 1.8 16v

Dont u loose suction doing that by too much air and no resistance, dunno really ?

Clean; im sending the tape to Craggy to split every 1s runs up into mp3s, but if u wanna give me a VHS ill copy the contents of the cameras tape including Oulton Park with a F40 and me racin my mates Fessi RS Turbo in the multi, including about 20mins of cars running at York.

Hopefully Craggy can post up the camper van beating a Cossie and our Clio 16v runs under 1 thread. Adis run against a Saff looks a bit special as uve heard.

i tried this on my old RT, and i think it disrupts the mixture too much, your throttle expects a certain amount of resistance so if there is none............i havent got a clue what im talking about but i dont think it will make much difference. Now if only i could get the air entering throttle to be extra cold............................................;)

jonnyboy, vts has induction kit and de-cat, and no york dobnt have superglue, judging by the sh*t times the stock 172s gets, its just us yorkshire clio9sport guys know how to drive/mod hehe,
I have to agree, i was along side some quick cars; Escort/Saff Cossie, 2.8 Z3, etc and they all ran very average times. I think us Mk1 Clios did ourselfs proud and i think it was the 1st time for all of us. I think i could still improve my 60ft time as i didnt get as good a launchs as racing at the lights. :devilish:
