Your prep for winter

  Bumder With A Buffer
Just curious to know what some of you guys are putting on to last the winter months?? (if anything!)

I'm hoping to da mine properly again but if I run out il strip it back, SRP then either ex-p or blitz for sealent followed by 2-3 layers of colli 476.

Think that should do! Only thing I'm unsure of is what to use to top up/help protect??

I have red mist, last touch and finishkare speedwipe at the mo.....thoughts??

:)

I'd stick with blitz spray..read a lot of good about it db and jd (I think jd anyway!) use it and like it on here.

Having said that though it may be worth buying that kit anyway as 476 is 23.95 on it's own, plus the carlack which is about a tenner?? Savings ftw :)

My paintworks in pretty good nick after rotaty correction by RussZS, so I'll be going with Carlack 68 (great paint cleanser) then a few layers of Megs #16 come the time but lets not be talking about winter just yet!!

Thats what I'm saying mate, gonna use the Carlack stuff, should remove it all and leave the surface LSP ready

I'm just going to run a glaze over it, throw a couple of layers of EX-P on and the same with Victoria collectors. Done.

If I get the weather/time/motivation I'll top up along the way.

Not one to intrude into someone's thread...

But would it be possible for someone to possibly send me a PM or just something on here, with what actually to do to prepare my car for winter...as I'm not exactly a full-time detailer...but wouldn't mind getting half-way there.

cheers boys!

BTW girls, I offer this as a service at £50 per car. Cut back with a polish, sealed and waxed for the winter. No paint correction, but a worth while idea and process for all those worried that they are not protecting their car's paintwork.

Also good for people that are just crap at detailing . . . richy.

Nothing different really. I don't believe in Winter wax or a change in process. Do it now whilst the weather and lights is still with us, then use a decent wax shampoo. "Car wash n wax" for example. Minimal work once a wk if you can be bothered.

Mine is getting its winter prep soon, going for:

Black Hole Glaze
2 layers of FK1000P
Topped with a thin layer of CG 5050

Glass sealed with Carlack Kit

Wheels 2-3 layers of FK1000P

That should see me good... but as Ali said, a good 'wash n wax' shampoo is all I'll be using after that for most of the winter.

I really want to try FK but dont want to spend ANYMORE money this month. Carlack glass kit I have now as well to try.

Mine will be getting a few coats of FK1000P, will do the trick as the current single coat its wearing has lastwed the last 4 months and still beads like the day I put it on

Its not needed Rich, I just like to add a good looking wax to add a bit to the finish.

Anything on top of the FK Jay?

No Point IMO, The FK Is so long lasting and gives a Nice Warm Glow to the paintwork.

I personally see no reason to add a wax over a sealent, its a bit of a false economy IMO It adds very little if anything to the finish, and the FK needs no "Boost" to its protection as its so long lasting as well.
