how do you find out whats bad?!

its not blue screening, just freezing. i canmove the mouse but not click on aything

ive go a OCZ Agility 3 60gb in there

wish i could just afford a new laptop

I think it's ram personally. U need to get on another PC, search memtest in Google and download the .iso file then burn it to a disc using imgburn.
Stick that disc in your laptop before it boots and run the test.

ok am on an old xp laptop now so can use this one.

what does the program do? just say if there is somthing up with memory?

got two sticks on memory in the laptop, just ran in with each one in on its own. but it made no difference

I ended up getting a new Samsung ssd today but every time I try to install windows I just get a f**king error. I hate windows

what was happening was after copying the files it install them. i kept getting and error that one could was curropt, which is odd as its taking the files from a windows CD.

it seems to have got past that now, does the install says its restarting, restarts and then were back at the begining start installing windows from the begining.

FFS...

yep it was cos i had cd selected only it just kept booting from cd, how ghay

now my copy of W7 wont load.

when i got my laptop it had vista on it and a month later i got a free W7 upgrade from dell. so w7 is an upgrade cd so i cant boot from it and install a fresh. i have to install vista and then upgrade.

but the totally unmarked cd just keeps spinning grrr....

i had computers

I treat my stuff very well thank you :)

Might open a new thread later this week about getting a new laptop

finally got W7 on and working.

you know when you put your dell service tag in and it gives you the various drivers and bits to install, do i need to latest bios one?

Well no he wants the cd to boot first? Instead of the current OS to fix itself using the cd.

Only for the first loading of the disk - the 2nd, 3rd and so on boots need to boot from the HDD then it reads from the CD/DVD if needed.

I would want the latest drivers from the lot on it fella.

owww two conflicting anwsers....

heres another one, trying to copy my outlook .pst file across but all i get is cannot copy outlook.pst data error cyclic redundancy check

google anwsers are letting me down to solve this one

ok heres another

how come when i plug my previous hard drive into my W7 machine i cant access my old user area, but plug it into a xp machine and everything is there.

W7 says i dont have permissions

How will it boot from the hdd when he's already replaced the ssd with a blank one?
I hate retail but a custom PC next so much easier to play with.

Nooo - What I mean is once you have got the SSD to install the basic W7 gear then it reboots itself during the install, after the first restart it needs to boot to SSD otherwise it boots to DVD and tries to reinstall over again (if that makes sense lol).

Sounds like it's sussed though :)
