New country! New whip! (Jap content)

Not an update - Just a note of maintenance.

Battery kept dying probably because of mad doof doofs so upgraded the shitty repco battery to a 530cca Century one.

Needed new terminals and a tie down too, terminals were a pain to swap over as had the cut my existing terminals and drill out the hole so the bolt from the new ones would fit in, but managed to do it in the end and works fine :)

So what I'm gonna have to do, is sell these tyres and get some stretched tyres on there, as apparently you can only get a good 2mm out of rolling r33 arches which won't be enough.

Oil + filter change day!

Oil change by danedser, on Flickr

Gave it some fully synthetic goodness!

Had a bit of a mare, bought one of those fancy magnetic sump plugs, go to put it in and the bloody thread snapped off when I was tightening it up! Piece of chinese shite. Could feel it wasn't decent quality metal, but wasn't expecting it to snap though! Got it through work so got a refund anyways. Might phone the supplier up and have a moan.

Also has a moment of panic when starting for the first time after the change. I had to move the throttle cable off of its clip so I could route the oil pressure+temp sensor pipes properly and forgot to move it back, so was idling pretty high and oil pressure was pretty high too so panicked pretty bad haha.

Anyways its all done, took it for a spin around the block and it's fine.

The noisy lifter seems to have quietened down too. Fully synthetic's the way to go xD

Cool thread. Just been through it all. Jealous of the move, are there many engineering jobs? I' 've got a MSc in Manufacturing and I'm doing my CEng.

So I failed my WoF (MOT) on a worn lower control arm bush, but the nobhead wof tester didn't know what the part was, and it was actually the tension rod/caster arm/radius rod bush that was worn so had a right faff ordering the LCA bush, then researching and thinking waaaait a minute that's completely wrong, canceling that order, then trying to find the correct bushes was a bit of a pain as our suppliers at work didn't call them that, but called them chassis to arm mount bush or something (dafuq?)

Anyways TL;DR

Also plastidipped my rear guards for the meantime until I can afford paint so they dont rust.

Pro tip: remove masking tape/mask when the paint is still wet -.-

Although tbf, cos I did multiple coats (with a glossifier afterwards too, which did s**t all anyway?!) I would have had to mask it every single coat??

Anyways looks s**t, serves a purpose, temporary measure.

Sanded / killrusted before applying plastidip errythang too.

Good news!

Maaaad updatez!

Proper springs on their way from japan so I don't have to roll on cut springs anymore -.- Ordered some JIC X-Magic lowering springs.

Also have a HKS EVC-S on order from japan too - should be here in a week or two!

Also been sorting the intercooler piping out the past couple days, here's how it's looking atm!

So messy.

Gonna get some braided line and some nipples welded in and jobs a gooden.

Also gonna get the cold side piping remade in alloy too.

Happy daysss!

When I see classic SKylines, all I can hear in my head is the "select your car" music from Gran Turismo 2.

Which isn't a bad thing

Sweet gauges! I'm looking at getting a Defi one for my Silvia.

When you looking at getting it all back together mate?

Yeah those are basically defi rip offs haha, reading up on AFR gauges, apparently you need a wideband O2 sensor to get accurate readings -.- wish I put the money spent on the gauge into one of those.

Should be back together and running some time next week, and boost controller, catch can and springs shouldn't be too far away either.

Hah I thought they were close to the real ones  How much did they set you back? (if you don't mind me asking)

Will look mint with a small spacer, moar lows and obviously some paint!

No, no, nope! That certainly doesn't need any spacer action going on there. The proportion and 'fit' of the wheels in the arches looks spot-on to me. I'm never a fan of seeing the outer rim of tyre stick out beyond the bodywork on any car. What you have above is just fine.

She's so nearly back on the road xD

So springs happened, woke up to them on my doorstep, win!

Spent almost 5 hours fitting them haha is a shitty job, but at least I know I have proper springs and not some cut spring back yard jobby.

Front sits pretty damn well, rear is sky high but I can get over that as this is only to keep me legal for the meantime.

The old rear springs weren't captive atall when I took them out, new springs are definitely gonna be a lot better, hopefully she handles a bit better too, she wasn't a bad handling car to start with!

Got my compressor housing and intake pipe back from Aaron who so kindly welded/drilled and tapped some holes for me (maad props) so just waiting on my cold side intercooler pipe back from autobend and she should be ready to go until my catch can arrives!
