Never seen that before but Dan's explanation sounds most plausible.
 
I've heard about AF illusion over AF desire giving great results....

Anyone given it a go?
 
Am i right in saying that Carbon Collective Platinum wheels is just Gtechniq C4/5 or at least very similar?

If so i would assume that i can use it like C4/5, Ie on wheels and trim?

As Gally says, sounds like a waste of money.

No matter what's under it, illusion will lose its wet look rather quick as its tge oils that will dissapear as soon as it rains.

I couldn't say for certain but the Platinum is lasting easily over a year on wheels for some guys I know.
 
Hex Logic pads still the go to for DA with Menzerna Polishes?
Only got Green, White and Black at the moment.
 
Yeah C5 is very good. From what i've seen it would be between that and dlux on wheels. I think C5 is a tad easier to use.

On DA I still think Hex is one of the best, although AF did design their pads to work via DA so maybe worth trying?
 
Will do some reading, Just feel like I need a wider selection as I can see me using the DA a bit this year on a few different cars.
 
Had a go with Reload 2015 last weekend (I normally use C2V3 but fancied a change).
First impressions are good, easy to apply and great beading. I applied it to my girlfriends red polo but did notice a little bit of smearing. However this might be due to:
• I didn't put a base down as I just quickly wanted to add some protection - so there will still be some contamination on the surface
•It was a wet, cold evening (which I have heard tends to increase the chance of smearing)

I will apply it to the 182 this weekend after properly decontaminating and applying tripple first via DA.

However, some beading shots of it slightly spitting after applying:

Very tall beading. Dampness can lead to smearing tbf, I think it's the same with a lot of spray sealants, especially considering the content, hence why they are so good at what they do protection wise. I would never be without a bottle of reload now.
 
Any body offering discounts for the easter weekend? I4detailing normally do something although nothing showing yet
 
Looking for some new brushes, currently using the valet pro and envy style detail brushes but want something different.

Keep looking back at the swissvax detail and wheel brushes. Can be had for decent money on amazon. Then there's a pack of 4 from autobrite, look decent but have my doubts with AB after previous orders and products. Then there's the hog hair brushes from autofinesse/ polishedbliss/ i4detailing.

Any suggestions or bad experiences?
 
I think the valet pro one is great. I don't get on with long hair ones as they have no bite really. Hence my move from SV to Valet Pro.

The SV ones are so nice tbf and great for interior and soft areas.
 
The 1" VP brush gets used more than all the envy brushes I have except for wheels. Never feel it's firm enough on grimey wheels. The smaller ones not bad for getting in all the shuts. Never use them on the interior as the brushed Hoover attachment works just fine

Is there something to make life easier a la Iron X, just spray on, leave, then blast off?

What's the most effortless solution? Or do I really have to spend hours on my knees?

Spray the tar remover liberally (out of the sunlight) leave for 5 minutes, spray again to damp the panel, wipe off.
 
Carpro tar-x or autofinesse obliterate.

Wash the car as normal, instead of drying leave the car wet. Liberally spray tar removing product over the affecting areas. I would typically cover the whole panel from window line down. Leave a few minutes for it to start to break them down. DO NOT LET IT DRY. Give the panels another quick spray with product. Then using a microfibre applicator like the meguiars ones found in halfords, spray a little more product onto the applicator and wipe down all the affected panels. This will need to be washed off to remove properly. I do this every 4 / 6 months and I rarely have to use clay. That is based on using a decent wax or sealant and reapplying before it completely wears off. That way the tar spots can't bond quite so well

Have used C4 before and rate it, Its what i would always use but the CC was pretty cheap as it was in the "seconds" sale so though it was worth a bash. Shall try it on the trims to see if it is similar to C4.

Also just a heads up that PB have 3 for 2 on Gyeon stuff, Im just about to order a few bits

If you're paintwork is corrected then cleaner fluid is a must, if it needs some filling then something else would be advised but Shield is probably the best all rounder for giving everything on the market, cost, feel, performance, (boutique'ness). Great wax.

I have been loving Vantage so much recently, it's such a good wax. Spreads like butter, so so oily and great price with discount. Possibly needs a fancier pot. :o

Oh and Dave is bang on with the tar advice apart from the fact I use Tardis and Tar X back and forth to compare.

Using one of these is the best idea for tar removal...

Massive thumbs up for hydro 2. Anything else with the same affect at the same price but in a larger amount

I also sprayed a little water onto the panel too and still masses of dust, and even product drying in blobs into the pad?

How do people rate auto finesse power seal? I quite fancy it as I like applying LSP via machine.

I've found AF 2 to be adequate for removing light-medium swirls. And They're quite dusty polishes ime. Regarding the 'blobs' though, are you removing excess polish as you go?
