I prob thought of the phase 1 cat mate with twin barrel cat.
I have the 172 so going mod the 182 cat to fit instead of my 172 one as ive read the 182 cat is more of a sports cat, than the 172?

Yeah it's Alot smaller than the 172s cat less restrictions as it has fewer cells
Are you changing the manifold?

Think it's just cos 182 is 4 2 1 and 172 is 4 1 manifold, so the cat is a bit smaller for the extra space?

not to my knowledge.
The 172 had a more restrictive cat fitted due to having more cells.
The 182 had a sports cat from the factory.

As @Danith said, different manifolds meant different cats.

The 182 cats are more free flowing but I don’t think it makes a massive difference.

Size is the big difference.

I have the ktec system on & just thinking of either putting on the 182 manifold & cat or doing a mod with original 172 downpipe but with the 182 cat as its sports cat well close to and be ok for mot plus if i decat it will prob be to loud.

Yeah just like a said previously I paid 57 with fitting kit straight swap for 182 passed emissions no problem.
I'm sure you could adapt it to fit your system.
Tbh de cat Imo on my car never made made much of a difference in noise.

Mines was unreal had a straight through scorpion back box non resonated.
I changed it to a Janspeed cat back with middle an rear resonators still kept scorpion Decat pipe on for a while and just before mot stuck a cat on an never noticed any real difference. Still got I nice sound not a drone like my previous exhaust.

Know where your coming from @Danith, the hawkers out there scrounging around for cheap cats, to sell on are not interested in the cars, just interested in making dollar. It goes against the club etiquette of helping each other out etc in my eyes.

Ive ran the Renault5gtturbo owners page on facebook with another lad for ages. Now the prices have gone supersonic on some parts, you get people trying to low ball offer people for stuff, with the only intention of trying to spin it over at a profit. Its just greed in my eyes, not helping the lads keeping their cars on the road.

100% mate. These online forums were a community and thankfully a handful (like this one) still are. Where profiteering is frowned upon and folk help each other out.

Nowadays, with FB groups, the younger lot are just all out to f**k each other over and boast how cheap they got stuff for, or make money off each other, or even create fake profiles and scam!

I totally get it, if you're getting a car for naff all and selling the bits. That takes work, space, time and effort - it's effectively a trade. But for all the sneaky c***s to see a catalyst for sale and deliberately use the PM's to low ball, only to sell the untouched part on at double, is just as bad as scamming.

As said, the end processor has overheads etc so they're the breaker in this instance. That doesn't apply to A-holes just buying them to sell to those metal recyclers.

If I see a catalyst post on FB now, I'll jump on and tell them it's worth the maximum I've seen them go for, cos I see that as I'm helping the bloke/woman. Guess I'm just an old fart or as someone mentioned on here, I 'havent got the guile' to do it. Some folk just don't get it these days.

I like to make money but I'm not out to scam people. I help people out by selling my parts stupid cheap majority of the time and in doing so it keeps peoples cars on the road. Plus I ship stuff all around the world to daft places where theres only 100 Clios there like Slovenia and Switzerland. I think most of my cup spoilers have been sent to France🤣 I only break cars if they're absolute dogs with panel damage, shady history or if they're silver, nobody wants a f**king silver Clio!!

That's breaking tho. I mean the folk who buy a cat for £100 online, have it sent, do NOTHING with it other than forward on to someone else at double or triple the price. I know of a few lads that are doing it on the civic pages, altho folk have cottoned on finally and now I see them on clio pages and others.

If money is there to be made then why not. People should research what they're selling first, if you're not gonna do that then expect to be stung. People buy gold chains cheap to melt down. Majority of gold nowadays is done by weight, not about how fancy it looks because nobody gives a s**t about selling it as a whole

Doesn't sit right with me. OK, if the buyers are being transparent and saying I'll offer you £X on the public forum, then ok. But most are Pm'ing within minutes to low ball before someone else comes along.

Good thing about Civinfo forum too, the FS threads are completely transparent and open, you can't do deals in PM you have to do it on the thread.

Profiteering just ruins the community feel. I'll go to a CS festival every year, but I'd be fucked if I went to a FB group annual meet! No community feel whatsoever.

Nah the facebook groups are filled to the brim with spastic f***s looking to make a quick buck. It's good to buy stuff from but I prefer to list my stuff on here or eBay because it filters out the retards straight away!

I like to give a mix of advice and s**t-talking on here wheras I just love to rip into people on Facebook. It's just too easy sometimes

I sold a megane cat a few years ago for £80 and was over the bloody moon. I then sold another one for £180. I don't feel scammed about selling the other one for £80 and I'm not pissed off at the guy who most likely bought it to sell on. He's obviously more in the know than me, no bitter feelings towards him at all.

I agree with both points tbf.
Imo Low balling someone say 60 for a 340 value cat Is out of order but making some cream on top fair.
a fair figure in my mind would be 20% profit.

I agree entirely. Both points are very valid. On one side, the club mentality is brilliant as we all, within reason, we look out for each other and help one another. Its awesome.

On the other side, money makes the world go round. Everyone likes making a bit of cash but nobody wants to feel like theyve been ripped off. I think thats where the problem lies. Its more about an individuals morals than anything else. This is why I don't think you can put a number to the amount of money someone should or shouldnt make on a product.

All we can say is, lets try and help members here not get their pants pulled down over something that people are clearly exploiting.

you hit the nail on the head my friend.

I try my best to offer any advice and help I can also.

The reason I used 20% as a guide is thats what the rough figure is that metal recycling firms work of.

It's similar to a gold dealer/diamond dealer etc 20% mark up.

I get what @Danith is saying its the people who have fell on hard time I.e. having to break their car due to many reasons an some scumbag who wants to exploit that by offering lowball numbers and only considering how much profit can be made.

Imo it will only come back to bite them as nobody will deal with them again.

keep it fair. Not everyone is rich an can use a leg up in life. It's how to make a community grow.

😀
