That pink bagged baguette

  clio campus sport1.2
New to the forum, im aware how much hate i will receive as its a 1.2, its bagged and its pink.

But i thought it was time to create a thread whilst im doing a full rebuild.

this was the look of the car last year, after having problems with the paint and having someone ram me i took it off road for yet another rebuild. But this time im actually doing things properly instead of trying to make the outside look decent, whilst the rest of the car is Old, rusty and a load of w***.

all the car has been done by myself, its been a learning experience for me as ive never done mechanics, electrics, bodywork, custom parts and upholstery ect before.

only things ive had other people do is structural work, and the paint.

Tbf it doesn’t look too bad from the front but WTF with the rear.

(Welcome though, we take the piss but if you’ve got thick skin you’ll enjoy it here)
Got to have thick skin to drive this thing trust me😂, and ive since made a diffuser for the rear end. That was the plan last year but i never got round to doing it.

I was going to say, nobody really wants to see your rear wheel well.

Still not a fan of Kanye’s sunglasses on the rear lights though.

Welcome. I quite like the colour. What's the plans?
Theres a long ass list of things i have planned, so far ive made a diffuser for the back, stripped down the rear end and refurbished it. That included some custom fab work to allow the car to sit even lower than before. And ive just started to work on the front set up now.

Those diffuser braces are adorable! 🤗

Good on you for doing your own thing. Look forward to seeing the progress
Haha i know, the diffuser hold well just attached to the car. I only fitted them to reduce the gap it was creating in the middle. Having it pulled up closer to the bumper made it look more flush.

Welcome to the forum. It's not what most on here would do, but if you like it, who cares. A lot of people slate the Max Power era, but I do miss the creativity, so I can appreciate what you're doing. Just make sure you fit a big engine at some point

This was where im at now with the rear end. I was running single bellow bags before.
Swapped them out for double bellows. Mounting plates have been dropped 3inch.
New shoes and refurbished drums( was going to covert to calipers but i cba).
Painted brake lines, and polished up the original bolts.
Painted struts.
Undersealed the rear and the arches.
Powdercoated beam by retro coatings.
And changed the bottom hub bolts to 12.9 gauge ones as im running more camber now.

Welcome mate. You’ve clearly got a talent there.
I was a child of the Max Power era and can appreciate the skills and work which goes into a project like this.
Granted it’s not to my tastes now but that doesn’t make it wrong.

Keep it going pal. 👍

Looks good, definitely stands out from all the VW's and Audi's in the show's. Can't wait to see it in person! 👍🏻

The spoiler etc looks very well done. I certainly appreciate the effort you’ve put into it, it doesn’t look half as mad/bad as the usual body kitted turds

Also if anyone has a link to guide on how to remove the engine and the subframe can you please post it in here. Would be a massive help

reiterate everone else tbh, standard of work and learning it all yourself is great, everything looks well thought out and well made.

as many have mentioned, not strictly to my taste either but overall cracking project and keep up the good work :)

Love how PC this forum has got :ROFLMAO:

I don't actually hate the front, whilst I wouldn't be seen dead in/near it and I just don't understand why everyone does this to 1.2s??? Not even a 1.6 (for the innevitible "can't afford to insure a 172")

I assume because not everyone is that bothered about going fast...

It was my first car thats why, and i thought its best to learn on this whilst its cheap instead of jumping into something with more power or worth a bit of money and messing up if you get me. Its literally just for my own enjoyment and knowledge of making/ fixing things.

So if you keep quiet because you haven't got anything good to say you're suddenly PC?

Anyway keep the updates coming OP, i'm 50/50 on the colour but the rest is awesome!

Averaged 1 point per camera per hour? 😂 How much does this cost to insure then? All mods declared?
Haha 4 fines, 3 points each. But took one as a speed awareness.
and tbh, my insurance didnt change much. It went from £1000 to £1200 all mods declared. That was when i had 2 years driving experience and 2 years no claims

I think he meant that not so long ago there would have been lots of "what a bag of s**t, you've ruined a perfectly good car" type comments rather than us saying it's not our taste but we appreciate the skill and effort. Doesn't matter what the subject matter, if you've nothing positive to add there's really no need to tell the Internet you don't like something, just scroll past. I wish some people would learn that skill And come on, the colour is great!

Good effort, it reminds me of modifying scene when I was younger, euro look from Max Power days. There used to be more cars/owners that wanted to be unique whereas now (possibly influenced by existance of internet / social media) majority of people read reviews, buy similar mods, follow or copy others vs buy magazine once a month for bit of inspiration and go their own way. Both have their merits but I like this, good luck with it.

Bit of a update, rear end us finally all mounted up. Just had to make some custom brackets for the top of the bags to mount to, i would of shown pics but i never got round to taking any. (The rusty bolt for the shock and since been replaced)
B2C91880-4AA8-4FBA-95EB-9CD808A84FAA.jpeg

time to get cracking on the new front set up.
solid top mounts have been purchased from mike arter, and ive had the plates re welded higher up on the shock by luke from outcast customs for a little bit more lows.

How do the bags ride / handle?

I see them a lot on massive american stuff on Fast'n'Loud and all that, but the Americans don't have corners ;) lol

Im not to sure what this set up will feel like compared to my previous set up. But im hoping it will be more comfortable as im putting a lot less stress on the shocks now.

my previous set up was a bag over coilover set up, running AP coilovers. And tbh, it was pretty stiff. Could happily throw it into corners and it would feel the same as when it was just running coilovers.
