thanks, i'll have a go and attempt cleaning it for the first timeLikely to be dust buildup inside.
I bought the pc in Feb 2017How old is it? You may need to refresh the thermal paste also.
Have you got any local access to an air compressor? I spoke to the garage before I went for the MOT and they were happy for me to use theirs on my PC - lol.I'm sure it's been coverd before but i'm a noob in pc's but my pc fans are kicking in each day more than usual past month or so it's like a jet taking off only last a couple seconds each time. It's never done this before, Why is this? I'm doing nothing different other than general browsing and streaming Netlfix and that. Thanks
There's a petrol station down the road where they have the tyre pressure lines, but i don't really have a garage i could pop too local to lend theit pressure lines like, good idea never thought about that. Next time i cold try that.Have you got any local access to an air compressor? I spoke to the garage before I went for the MOT and they were happy for me to use theirs on my PC - lol.
Doing it by hand or with those cans of compressed air will only do half a job. You need proper PSI behind it as dust and debris will collect in all nooks and crannies. Don't forget to blast out the PSU, CPU heatsink and GPU fan specifically. If your PC case has a filter tray, unclip it and just wash it in warm, soapy water and a quick blast of a hairdryer (not too hot!) will sort that out.
Left unchecked with your PC building up dust and you'll soon reach the thermal thresholds where the PC will immediately shutdown due to overheating.
I'd check if that HS&F unit doesn't need to be rotated 180 degrees.
Just says its been fitted with pre applied mx-2 thermal paste, i have sent them an email to see what's gone on.It definitely needs turning around.
You might get lucky if the fan and shroud can come off and be attached the other way.
Also, as they've put it on backwards it makes me wonder what the thermal paste application is like.
As @Daz... says - if it came like that, it's likely to be the wrong way around. It's not going to ruin anything as such, but it's far from optimal if left like it is.i will have a look, i don't really want to move the cooler round as it will disturb the thermal paste etc won't it? sorry this is all new to me.
It came pre assembled, i would have assumed they would mount the fan to suit airflow?
Right anti static bracelet and MX-4 thermal paste order, i hope i can just turn the fan round instead of taking it off....![]()
What about when your lad says he wants to use the water cooler that's on his current CPU?![]()
Yep, doesn't have the bracket, and it looks like they are not longer made for that cooler, so can't fit it, i don't think cooling will be a major issue, and from what i am reading it looks like the fan just clips on, so i may well be able to swap it round. What about when your lad says he wants to use the water cooler that's on his current CPU?![]()
The cooler comes with pre applied MX2 paste for easy assembly, at £20 i don't think it's looking to break any records on the cooling front...Who even uses pre-applied paste
All about Coolermaster paste or MX4. I'm pretty sure piss is a better conductor compared to preapplied

Tbh my brother bought a £17 uphere one and used some of my paste and it dropped.his CPU temps from 90⁰C+ to about 60⁰CThe cooler comes with pre applied MX2 paste for easy assembly, at £20 i don't think it's looking to break any records on the cooling front...![]()
Its just a pity i can't get the brackets for his water cooler...Tbh my brother bought a £17 uphere one and used some of my paste and it dropped.his CPU temps from 90⁰C+ to about 60⁰C
Get him a Noctua or a Cryorig double 120mm cooler
Definitely my favourite if I was running on air alone.Tbh my brother bought a £17 uphere one and used some of my paste and it dropped.his CPU temps from 90⁰C+ to about 60⁰C

Anything really with a bit of detergent action to it. I've even used glass cleaner in the past - but don't use anything abrasive like cream cleaner (JIF).So they have mailed back admitting it's on the wrong way, and asked if i am confident enough to turn it round myself, it should be a straight forward job, i have ordered thermal paste, do i need to order something to remove pre-applied paste? or if looks ok just turn it round and screw it down again?
From what i have read pre-applied paste is ok if it's been applied properly?
Cheers for the help chaps.
