Ive had the SteelSeries Arctis 7 for months and they are an absolutely class wireless headset.
Sound and battery are incredible, only charge them occasionally and never had them go flat on me (there’s a direct connect cable if they were to go flat).

I've looked at a few, I've gone for the Asus Theta. They're on offer at the moment for £200.

Purely because I mainly play FPS on the PC (COD, CS:GO, Valorant) and with them being a true 7.1 headset the positional sound should be a bit better than virtual.

They'll be here tomorrow so I'll let you know what they're like.

I had a set of the Xbox ones and returned them cause they kept having connection issues, shame as they were a good when they worked

These too are similar to the ones i have have a tthe minute, the Asus ones have little speakers in each side. I much prefer true surround than artificial as you say. I noticed that the connector is USB-C?

I'll be using the headset for the PS5, i know there's a USB-C on the front of the console i'll be using that for the charger lead for the controller, i wonder if there's a second USB-C port on the back of the PS5 to use that port for the headset?

Let me know on the Asus headset these could be the ones, they look my kind of style. I'll have a look at some videos on these for more info

Could I use those coloured ports on the side like an adapter to a USB instead of using the optical audio cable that went into the back of the PS4 Pro for the PS5?

How did you get on with your new headset? I had a look at the reviews and I'm not sure yet, they also say there quit heavy compared to other top end headset.

I think I'm more leaning over to the Astro A40 TR with Mix Amp to get the Surround Sound, also i'll need their HDMI to Optical Adapter for it to work on the PS5. It'll come to £274.

I been looking for adapters and i'm not sure which one i'm after with my present headset. To not spend more money than i have too but It's just confusing on the adapters.

Surely you are better off with the gen 4 Astro A50 at that price range? Better audio than the A40 & wireless.

Yeah i've been looking at the A50's spec and they are better but i still prefer a wired connection like.

They only arrived today as DPD had an "operation issueal" yesterday.

So far so good. Don't find them heavy at all, really comfy. Two different types of ear muff, I'll try them both to see what they're like regarding comfort and sound.

I'll be able to tell you more about positional sound, tone, mic etc. tomorrow. Going to have a play around with the software too.

Fair enough. I can’t stand wired headsets these days. Mind you, this one has a ridiculously long cable. I’m sure it’s 3/4 meters long.

@Ph1 Tom the Asus headset does look nice have to say. Let me know how it sounds, still don't know this one or the Astro's

@Moonshot yeah the Sharkoon's have a really long cable too, which doesn't bother me much. Might get some cable hooks that run along my desk which make things look presentable.

One thing is that if you plug the 3.5mm socket into the controller is drains the battery quicker, not sure how much quicker.

Had a look on Reddit regarding Astro's, there's outcry about the audio from lots of people. Might end up playing it safe with the new official PlayStation headset

That’s surprising. I’m not ashamed to say I’ve watched probably over an hours worth of different YouTube videos reviewing Astros 😂

If you're on Xbox you should be able to turn that on with any headset. It's in the options somewhere.

I've been really happy with PlayStation Gold headset, wireless, decent quality and sound. Hidden microphone is good too. Used on PS4 and on laptop too was about £60.

All the grief from what people are getting is to do with this issue not having an optical audio port. and have to use this adapter. A lot of people are saying different story’s saying that doesn’t work or this doesn’t work.

Been looking at what people recommend like those steel series , Astros, Asus, PS headset.

I might just buy an adapter and give it a go on my current Sharkoons fingers cross it works and hang fire on purchasing a new headset

Yeah I have the HyperX cloud 2 and think they are good and pretty comfy.
what your thoughts on the 7.1 aspect, Notice a difference? Only just looked into these few minutes ago. is the buttons on the remote fairly good and build quality in general? From what i looked on a video it's just plugs in the USB so farly straight forward plug in and go

I don't use the USB part so no idea on that. The headset itself seems well built though and the cable is durable. The mic can be removed which is handy if you don't want that on all the time either.

I had a pair of the hyper x until one of the wires stopped working. Bought a cheap set from Amazon and find them better which I was shocked about. On my second cheap pair as the first were launched about a month ago.

So kind of handy they are cheap :)

I miss the good old days of being able to punch your mate when they got one over you in a game.

Although if you feel the need to throw headsets/controllers then maybe you should try a different game 😂

Took the plunge and ordered the Steelseries Arctis 5, arriving Monday. These will do for the time being before something more of my liking comes out down the line.

Same, mine have done good service and still working surprisingly!

I've held off replacing them until ps5 lands, and I think I'll wait a little longer until some good 100% compatible wireless ones start to surface.

I always used cheaper turtlebeaches etc

Then at the start of the first lockdown I found myself using the xbox a lot and the headset uncomfortable after an hour or two.

So I bought Steelseries Arctis 9x, true wireless for xbox and I cant rate them enough sound quality is great, super comfy and battery life is very good as well.

Think I paid around £180.

Unfortunately though it is my first "expensive" headset so can't really compare to others of the same price range.

I've had my Sharkoons for about 8 years and been superb and I'll keep them just in case as they still work. These are my only ever pair of headphones other than the official PS headpiece that you put in one of your ears, think that was back in the PS2 era. I'm just after some mid range ones with no extra cables or adapters just to get me going as @josh11490 said wait until 100% compatible ones come out.

@Geddes

Got the new headphones setup now, I've done quite a few tweaks to the settings but pretty happy with the positional sound. They're on par with my old setup in that respect with being able to pre-empt where other player are going but the quality is much clearer and less tinny.

Is all the tweeking done on the pc using their settings or can you control it on the cables or headset? On my Sharkoons you could control how much volume cam from each 1 of the 4 or so speakers on each side of the headset. Is this the same on yours? I put my headset up in the loft and keeping them just in case.

@RatTrick you done extremely good on your headset, defo getting it's money worth on those.

Its controlled through the software only. Definitely more of a PC setup that you can use on console

Same with mine actually they coming today so I'll be setting them up too on the pc. I have no PS though as i sold it the other week. I'll get some videos and films going on my pc and test out the surround sound effect.
