Amazon fire TV sticks

Anyone else given up with streaming content? I've gotten so bored of it/paying for VOD streaming and then relying on decent connections that I've gone old school.

Synology NAS running Radarr, Sonarr, Jackett, Plex and Deluge for downloads. All configured and downloading whatever I want ready to go and new episodes as they come out.

Much happier with life again now. Was becoming a right chore to get decent streams (even using paid VOD).

Sky, Netflix, Amazon + Plex is a much happier place to be.
Setup slightly changed now.

Using SABNZBD for downloads and also using Ombi to link with Sonarr and Radarr to enable easier searching and adding of films/tv.

lovely

We still have iptv via Wicked, but every time there's a fuckin football match on it stops working. Dunno whether a VPN would work, or whether its getting blocked on their end

Yep your isp is blocking it.
It's a real pain for people but you should be using a vpn to cover yourself and the service.

Use topcashback or quidco and get money from Surfshark or Express Vpn. Both are good and reliable.

Give me a shout if you need some help on setup.

For films/TV etc I use an app called Syncler these days and it works very well after a bit of setting up. Ideally you'll be using real debrid though not sure how it'd work without that. Can be downloaded from the Google play store which is convenient. Once set up you'll get high quality links like in the image below.

I'm currently limited to using files 2gb or below as I use my phone linked to TV with chromecast which seems fine tbh but I'm going to try it on firestick to see if I can watch the larger files.

I did try Express VPN before, but it didn't seem to work. Although that could have been the provider, not the VPN. I will have to try again

If you need to try them take a trial.
I prefer surfshark, (but have a custom vpn too now) and they are much nicer.
Surfshark needs a wee bit of config but works well.

I'm using a supplier I found on eBay, was a bit skeptical but honestly, such a great purchase. £45 for the year and I get to watch the lot (Movies / sports / on demand etc)

Great customer support too with a discord channel, this guy basically supplies everyone else from what I understand.

Can anyone help, I'm looking to buy a firestick for streaming sky, sports, movies etc. I want to buy one already done so I can just plug it in and it'll work. Any suggestions? Also, can I get one with VPN built in or do I have to buy that separately?

Still using syncler nothing comes close imo. Takes a bit of setting up and you want to pay for real debrid which costs f**k all in the long run but it's faultless and once you set up the packages you'll have access to pretty much whatever you want to watch.

The only thing is doesn't have is live sports etc.

I gave up trying to get sky go working on the in-laws fire stick. Went through every guide I found, did everything how it said and it kept going wrong.

i would say its probably not permitted by terms from sky, stops people avoiding paying extra for multi room etc. cant mirror the app either.

Bumpy.
Amazon disabled the developer options. To get them back

"Navigate to Settings > My Fire TV > About, and then keep clicking the device name until you see a “You are now a developer” popup. After that, the Developer Options menu shows up like normal."

Really? LOL!

I’ve just seen the skygo thing above… this is very interesting to me.

I’m having issues with itvplayer, I have nord vpn, set to U.K., and it constantly geolocks me out. Any one with any ideas?

Are the menus still dogshit?
It's been a while since I had a Kodi stick but when I did it was horrible to use.

I want something that looks similar to Sky that everyone in the house can navigate.

Depends, menu is fine, it depends what applications you want on the top of it though. iplayer stv player etc.

Of you want a "sky looking app" then id look into the Formuler boxes.

Tbh, the TV we have has most of the apps we'd need.
I just remember looking for sports was a nightmare of loads of sub menus and having to go back when one didn't work.

That's all I'd need it for actually, unless the kids wanted a film of some sort that's not on Netflix or Prime.

Kodi sure wasnt the most easiest to use.
Plenty of decent applications out there for that now. Paid options are always better via android or streaming box.

Looking at alternatives to sky. Have an older stick which had Kodi etc on and never really got on with it always searching for decent links.

Have things moved on? What are the better paid options and whats the latest Kodi type free options?

Do any offer a record function now?
