Ahh no mate I had to get an adapter, pretty cool though as it came with a nice surprise on the back... USB output so I'll be able to charge my phone too

How much is the adapter and fan? I may do a purchase!

Alright boys, need a bit of advice. I'm pulling the engine out of my Saab again next weekend and I'm looking at picking up a few nice impact tools to make life easier. A powerful impact wrench and rachet wrench is what I'm thinking, but I'm open to any other suggestions as well. Also, they'll need to be Makita only (sorry Milwaukee lovers) as I've got a crap-ton of the 18v batterys sat around at work. Any ideas would be welcomed!

No idea on poverty brands Makita tbh.

Have a look at their specs and see what torque their impacts will do. If you're only getting one impact, i'd make it count and get one with several hundred Nm of torque so it'll tackle any bolts you throw at it.

Makita dtw300 is my go to for pretty much anything also have the dtw1002 for when things get serious. I just have the £100 Sealey battery ratchet as the Makita one is a bit chunky.
As said above though the dtw700 looks decent just no personal experience.

Same, my little DTW300 does almost anything including crank nuts, there's the odd occasion it needs more but the size of it to get into tight spaces more than makes up for the odd occassion of getting something bigger out

The 700 looks a nice balance to start with.

I'm going to get the little hatchet chainsaw next I think.

I also want the new guide rail and saw but I just wouldn't use it. The times I do need a rail saw I can just borrow my uncle's Festool.

I am quite impressed with that, in a good way!

There are a few models of vac's now, i'm not sure what gen yours is though. Think they do one for the packout that I don't need.
Mine is the VC2, the packout one is a bit bigger.

Its on a par with the Dewalt DC500 it replaces for power, it's just so handy not having to have it plugged in and it's really well designed as everything packs away into the lid when not in use. Apparently the high output batteries make it even more powerful too.

Need some power tool noob advice, been looking at getting an impact, mostly for whipping wheels off, but obviously something flexible is a bonus. Dad has Milwaukee tools so makes sense to use the same, been looking at an M18FIW2F12, but I have no idea if I want a friction ring or pin detent. I assume 1/2 inch is preferable to 3/8ths?
Also is 339Nm of torque enough or should I be looking at the bigger boys? Can't see myself needing 1000Nm+

A lot of people say the mid torque is best for that usage mate. Sometimes the stubby can fail to get wheel bolts off if they're really on tight.

I'd go for friction ring everytime. Pin detect is mainly for working up high as you have no chance of losing the socket as you have to physically push the pin in.

No good for mechanicing

I always opt for 3/8 as most of my sockets are that fitment. It's the most versatile one for me.

Cheers lads, looks like I can get the 1/2 a bit cheaper than the 3/8, so we'll see which I end up springing for.
Is the 1/2 in the M12?

I got the 3/8" and on the whole wish it was 1/2", all my impact sockets are half and my bar is half so I'm forever putting on and taking off adapters and its annoying! Plus the adapter soaks up a fair bit of the impact.

M18 mid torque in friction ring would be ideal.

Pin detent is for nonces 😂

I was telling a mate how stupid bright it was, he said he also has one... The bulb in his kitchen went and he had it as the kitchen light for about a month because he was too f**king lazy to change the bulb, its now his bathroom light and he fixes his car in the dark - knobber.

He does like his wookiee light, kids are all blind now though.
