Speedlines look great, rare set with the embossed logo.

Not a bad list of jobs to do.

I got my gearbox back from @NorthloopCup

Rather than stick with the Quaife and the 089 final drive Mark talked me into getting a Gripper... and then the 4.28 final drive... 💲+ 💰= 🕊️ 👛

Saturday morning I got my helper to give me a hand

Gearbox in

Then she came back after the hard graft had been done and I was just about to put the subframe in

I got as much buttoned up as I could on Saturday, but because it was sweltering, I gave up at about 16:30. In bolting the rad in place, I disconnected the upper rad support and didn't put it back in properly...

So I had to break into my own engine bay, thankfully I've done it enough so I know where the bolts are for the rad support

Which led to...

Fanfuckingtastic. Just what you need 1 week before the car needs to be on track, yet more work

So those broken bolts turned into

20250716_185905.jpg

And then

20250716_185100.jpg

And then putting in rivnuts

20250716_190339.jpg

20250716_194212.jpg

Which meant cutting up my bent rad support and painting it with a bit of Monaco blue

20250716_193059.jpg

It bolted up lovely and was sturdy as chuff. I tried to get it bent back into shape but I think it's a bit too far gone. Which is great because I have a spare at work from the car I just broke...

Except I checked this morning and I don't because I lobbed it in the back of the shell before weighing it in... FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKK

Bolted the panel back in to see what it looked like. Adjusted the catch and...

Yeah it still looks like the bonnet is open 😡 I think @Louis has one from his car, hopefully that one isn't bent like the owner WAHEY

In other news, all of the tacks on my driveshaft broke from where I blebbed a bit of weld on it last year

WhatsApp Image 2025-07-10 at 20.01.06.jpeg

So @OEM Battery Nonce kindly welded it up good and proper. I don't fancy that coupler coming loose and eating into my diff seal again

I wish I'd have got a pic before he ground the welds and painted it because he got some proper penetration, he firmly grasped my shaft when he slathered it with hot ropes of sticky stuff 🫦 😩 :devilish:🥰 I'm starting to think he might be 🌈

A legend nonetheless

Doing some more bits

Started by stripping the discs off and giving behind them a check. The brackets @Clio_fool made me years ago are still absolutely spot on! Just need to clean the corrosion up a touch and spritz some ACF over everything

20250718_181003.jpg

Started filling the gearbox oil

20250718_183605.jpg

20250718_184712.jpg

Ended up using the 3 new ones and then 1/4 of the 4th bottle

Then because Mark had had the box apart I just had a general check over whilst the box was full. Which resulted in me going to tighten the selector detent where the selector return spring sits... It went as well as Freddie Mercury having unprotected sex with multiple blokes

This happened. Yes that's all of the brand new gearbox oil coming out

20250718_191513.jpg

Snapped the entire f**king thing clean off

20250718_191509.jpg

Thankfully I had luck on my side (I guess) for once and I got it out

20250718_193013.jpg

Jess was sat with me when I did it. I genuinely put little to no effort into it too. She just walked off which was for the best because I was about ready to benchpress the car up and drop it on my head

With it being raining today I didn't get much chance to do stuff to the car. So I went to clean my front discs up

20250719_122752.jpg

Usually surface rust comes straight off but these were a bit too pitted on the inside and the outer edge had started to get microcracks. They're exactly 2 years old and 3 trackdays

20250719_122857.jpg

Bought some Febi replacements that should arrive this week. Cannot grumble for £38

Cleaned my air filter as it was getting a bit acky

Before

20250719_181251.jpg

After. Sprayed it down with some Surfex and rinsed it inside to out. The water came off brown

I got the car started after fitting up a nicely freshly charged battery. The diff then immediately started turning, the Quaife wasn't this savage to spin both shafts that hard 🤣

That resulting in the car thinking it was moving, so it locked the doors. Something I had failed to realise, so I turned it off and then shut the door...

20250719_191240.jpg

Yep. Locked the f**king keys in it. Thankfully I'd turned it off

So yeah, pissing down rain when I wasn't meant to be doing much to the car meant I was now taking the exhaust off, taking the PMS shifter out and reaching up into the car like a puppet master to hit the unlock button

Since I had the decat pipe off I put some jubilees round the tatty exhaust wrap. I couldn't find my metal cable ties

20250719_205053.jpg

I wasn't happy with that and luckily had just enough wrap to redo it all

20250719_210149.jpg

With that I got out the exhaust paste and fitted everything back together.

20250719_205028.jpg

No pics as I was already so annoyed, tired and I'd just eaten a Chinese so I actually felt like I was going to s**t and spew simultaneously

So next jobs are

Screenshot_20250719_232610_Samsung Notes.jpg

I reckon I might have a look at fitting the BYC ducts tomorrow if the rain holds off. I can route them quite nicely. I reckon I'll cut into the bottom grille in the corners for the trumpets
