Renault Service Centre - Not much confidence

  Evo 8 Jap Crap
It doesn't give you much confidence when you ring up a Renault main service centre to get a price on changing the windscreen washer bottle on a 2002 CLio 172 and the person the other end starts telling you they have to remove the front bumper to get at it.

To which i tell them its behind the scuttle panel and you have to remove the wipers....

"Hang on a minute sir i will check with our master tech"..... 2 mins later "yes as i thought we do have to remove the front bumper as the bottle is in the wheelarch."

How do these numptys get a job as a master tech when they dont even know what there talking about :nono:

worrying that people take their cars to renault. wouldnt touch them with a bargepole. only had one service with them, and that was one too many

Techies probably heard the annoying woman off the desk question him about comehting cansiter so though they asked about carbon canister which is in the bumper are but no need to remove bumper to get to it. Or unless they though you were aksing about another type of car.

I don't trust Renault Dealers at all. I remember when I had my 1.4 and the gears were getting abit of a bugger to change. I took it into Renault at Guildford and asked them to adjust my gear linkage, to which the guy replies. "It won't be the linkage madam, it will be the gearbox. They don't have gear linkages". That really didn't fill me with much confidence at all. They reckoned I wouldn't get it back that day as the gearbox had to come out. I was horrified but left it with them anyway. They called me back 4 hours later and said it was done. They refused to make a comment when I said I must have been right about the gear linkage then. Dumb f***s! lol

I had an afercare service call from Renault UK regarding a complaint I had made and I made it clear to them that I would never buy another renault because of the dealer lack of aftercare serive especially Arnold Shark ..

General question - do you guys use the Renault dealer for services but not mechanical jobs or just get everything done elsewhere.

As a new 172 CUP owner i've taken my clio to the dealer for everything, but often payed throught the nose and had bad service and afterservice experiences everytime!

This was my experience at a MAIN DEALER:
"Hello, Id like a service quote for a Clio 172".
"Ok Sir, what engine size is that?"
...I rest my case.

Needless to say I went elsewhere.

In answer to your question; I get it done elsewhere. Renault wanted over £350 for a service. I got it done for £69. My car was less than 3k so I guess it's something I can get away with when it comes to resell time.

Only use the dealer due to warranty .. won't be when its ran out :)
