the brakes on the new shape clio 1.4 dynamic are better than my cups

  172 cup
they are really impressive brakes and they make the ones on my cup seem limp,
The pads are fairly worn but the fluid may not have been replaced so im guessing its that, so im going to put in some new fluid (probably wasn't included in service) and new pads.
is there any downside to fitting the ferodo 25000's apart from price, the next best option seems to be the mintex extremes or the standard pads.
any opinions please

the bakes on the smaller engined cars are SO over servo'd, thats why

new pads and fluid is worth doing, but if your doing the fluid you may aswell do the lines, 2 birds with 1 stone

they need a bit of warming up from memory jiminy but other than that should improve things.

I think the Cup brakes were always under-servoed compared to the street-sensitive base models which you just had to breath on to end up licking the windscreen.

{Edit} Is there a f**king echo in here. lol.

it'll more than likely be down to the worn pads and fluid.

ive always used standard OE parts for my brakes and keep them regularly serviced. They are great and i have no issues with them, even on day-long trackdays.

My advice to you would be:

Buy a good quality brake fluid
Replace the pads
Buy some braded brake lines

you think there better but go nail both cars down the same backroad braking heavy and see which is better, new clio being heavyer with smaller brakes will likely fade quicker

brakes that put you thru the windscreen arnt always "good" brakes, brakes that put u thru the windscreen time and time again in a row without fade are good brakes lol

I like the brakes on the none Rs overservoed maybe but you could argue Rs ones arn't stunning.

Drive both hard on a back road I'd bet my brakes fade much later than a 172's ones would.

ive driven four nippy clios, the brakes on a low millage 182 were dangerously bad and mine arent great and i could not tell on the other test drives
but people seem to really rate the clios brakes, have i been unlucky or are the brakes a bit soft

there is no way my car could outperform the 1.4 from 80 to 0 but the laws of physics say otherwise, thats what shocked me

what car have you got edde

Some 182 seem to have had faulty calipers and slider no idea why same part as 172 also the fluids in them seem to go off quicker probably due to the nice looking but useless working wheels which don't let the brakes cool.
All hot hatches realy need brakes fluid bleeding ever 2 years maximum though.
172/182 brakes are identical and are superb. Better than 911 turbo in tests I belive.

thanks for your help guys, will go to standard with braided hoses, any brakes that are comparable with 911's should be good enough for me
