I need to splice into this to instal a more easily visible gear change light. Does anyone know how to identify the wire and whether I can get at it without distmantling the dash? I have tried the coil pack and for some reason the signal is not suitable. Thanks

You could run one from the TDCsensor.
The wiring the same as the phase 2 cars I think I'll get a colour wire Sunday for you if you want.

You'd need to take the dash top off to do to tap into the looms for the dash though.

Or maybe take one from the injector pulse. Depends on what kit you are using though

pin 1 on the ECU . if you take the metal cover off the connector is numbered

Its lots easier to get a shift light that plugs into the cigarette lighter. They are not quite as accurate, but still good and only £40. You have to p1ss about with it to get it set up at the right rpm though.I've got one and it's cool nice blue leds on A-pillar
