DO 172FF'S HAVE BRAKE LOAD COMPENSATORS

I was just out for a wee blast in my "02" 172ff up a straight (private) road and back its about a mile or so long.

I went up and down for a blast a few times then headed home again. (Curious to see what i got in each gear haha)

After a play about, i headed home and at the end of it is a juction with another road to the left(to my house), i was flying up to it (on the straight) and was still doing abot a ton so hit brakes a bit too hard and abs kicked in, the back of the car fish tailed a bit (if thats what you call it) :S

Won't be hitting them that hard again

I s**t myself, maybe a bit too hefty on brakes i think at each end of straight. :S

As when i returned home (a 1/2 mile or so away)the tyres were roasting at front and warm on rear as well as all wheels, there was a wee bit of smoke coming from front pads (a few wifts)with a fair smell too

My question is.

Does the 172ff's abs system have a brake load compensator attached to rear brakes that could have caused this ?

When i say compensator i mean a thing that put more power to rear wheels under various conditions.

pass, i've not seen anything on the rear axle but thats not to say there's nothing up front. tbf you probably cooked your front pads and they went off

mine are like this - when the motorway traffic brakes hard i often feel the back end twitch

are these cars lowered at all? 'cos that can affect load compensators 'cos they think they are loaded up

I am not expert but this is what happens when I knock out my alignment.

What alloys do you have fitted?

Is it lowered at all?

Cooked them ! !

Will they be ok whencooled down though ? :S

yup may be a little glazed a few hard hits on the pedal 'll clear that tho
best way too cool pads is to drive without using them. worst thing to do is cane them then stop, especially if you then hold the brakes on for a long period or apply the handbrake, that f***s the discs 'cos they cool unevenly and can warp

Ah ok cheers dude.

That'll be why you get grooved/drilled discs, to get rid of glazed pads and let hot gases out when braking

Standard 172ff alloys and not lwered as i'm aware :S

Unless last owner lowered it as i haven't in the six months i've had it.
