Fuses - PLEASE help!

  Breaking A 172 Replica
For a couple of months now I have had occasional problems with my car not wanting to start. Fortunately the first time it happened TomTom (as in the member of here) was able to sort the problem. It was due to a dodgy connection in the fuse box area, due to a build up of water precipitates and other gunk (no arch liner and broken fuse box housing offers little protection).

A quick scrape of the fuse prongs and a spray of WD40 and all is working again.

Its happened a few times since and I have just carried out the same procedure and all had been well.

However 3 weeks ago (around the time of the torrential rain/flooding) the same thing happened again but this time no matter how hard I scrape and spray with WD40 I simply cannot got a good connection. The fuses (btw I think they are fuses but they may be relays, see fig. 1) seem to click when the igntion is on but the immoboliser light stays on. Every now and then I can get the engine to start but as soon as I pull away it cuts out again.

What else do you suggest? I can't get it to a garage as it won't bloody drive anymore than 100m at best.

Is it possible a set of new fuses/relays (whatever is in fig1) will sort it? Or are fuses either blown or not blown?

Thanks

I thought it happened to me before coz some bloke said it when my lights didnt work, i asked how much they were and they aint cheap so i would try and stay away from replacing them (relays). have you tried cleaning with wire wool to scrap first layer off

If someone said you need to replace them and it will be sorted I would take that option tbh.

I just want the car to be reliable again!

Most likly the wiring had it you need to realy do a proper job strip the lot down clean them all up and make a good protective cover for them all you've been bodging it for ages.

That is the one thing I didn't want to be told!

How long do you think stripping it all down would take Edde?

Thanks

I am a bit reluctant to send it to Renault as if they do have to strip it all back it could cost £100's!

Advice?
