Ph1 RSi Vs. 1.6 16v Dynamique

Car  Evo 6, E92 320d
OK, views/comments from people who have had/have either of these please.

Currently i have a ph1 1.2 16v 'sport' and am moving up to something a bit more pokey, decided it should be a 1.6. I have found 2 mint examples, 1 a 2000 W reg RSi and a 2003 reg 1.6 16v dynamique. Prices aree very reasonable (£2.5k and £3.5k respectively) but insurance for the dynamique is nearly £300 more:S .
So, i would like to know your comments on either car.
Chris

personally id go for dynamique. bit newer and looks better imho.

I do agree that the dynamique is the better looking of the 2, but is there any mechanical benefits of either? I know the RSi has leather interior which i liked.

Which ever 1 i decide on will get the RS bumpers and wings attatched .

I'd go dynamique for the newer car imo. But i've had one so would be biased.

The Dynamique has VVTi too, so you're gonna get a kick like the ClioSport has. lol

Erm hate to break your bubble but no. For a start the 5k kick on the RS is due to the cam profile not the VVT as the VVT engages at 1800rpm for a start.

Also only the Ph3 1.6 (so 04>) has VVT, it doesn't drive any differently and doesn't make anymore power either. Oh a VVTi is a toyota system the renaults use VVT, and yes theres a difference before you call be pedantic.

Rsi is the ligther with got alloy bonnet, leather interior & few kits.

1.6 16v dynamique are good car but won't have leather interior or some kits

I'm selling my mint mk2 RSi atm :)

Yep RSi is a good choice, only 1000 made and a bit more fancy inside. If it were me I would rather save the £1300 on the purchace price and insurance (it only costs me £300 a year to insure my RSi anyway) and buy the RSi.
I think my engine is very peppy too, I picked up 4 of my mates a few weeks back and they are all heavy chaps, but even then you couldn't feel the weight in the car.

Would an RSi owner trade one for the other? Prob not in my case although I have considered trading mine in for a black ph2 1.4 dynamique to save some money on fuel, tax and insurance, whereas changing to a 1.6 dynamique would be a side step for me with no financial benefits and they both look good as good as each other imo.

On the plus side for the RSi, the one i have found has just had new cambelt, new headgasket, new exhaust and new tyres.

people have mentioned the rsi's have leather...its half leather on a crap pattern which looks terrible...id much rather dynamique seats. The whole dash and interior is more up to date, and yes it is 1k more, but you'll be able to keep it for longer an itll stay more modern longer

i'd prefare a dynamique personally because there more modern, have very good kit on them etc but the rsi is more sporty so its up to you realy mate.

hows the rsi more sporty?

RSi stand for Renaultsport Injection

different suspension
it lighter
interior is same near the ph1 172 with out the silver bits & alcantara
they are more fun to drive

that what they called sport, mind you RSi cost more the dynamique 1.6 when the Rsi came out in 2000. They were about £14k & dynamique only was near £11k.

dynamique is the same all clio ph2, don't see any different between 1.2 & 1.6 look.

Dynamique every time.. but thats cos i have one. the ph3 is the best looking of all of them.
i do like the RSi however the dash puts me off

not too keen on the dash in the ph1 but each to there own.

^ the ph3s look better on the outside, but a few of the interior bits arent as good as the ph2....no glove box light, headrests dont stay up properly, digital dials are annoying imo, roof lining is like cord....however the 1.6 ph3s have rear disks

Due to the higher insurance costs I'd go for the cheaper tto insure car plus its got cambels etc done.

(I'd wonder why the head gasget and who did it though it never usualy needs touching its a good gasget)

I had a 53 plate 1.6 16V Dynamique - I thought it was an awesome car, I really enjoyed driving it. I only sold it to buy a 172

Lol lighter. I might put a sport n turbo badge on my car to make it as sporty as an rsi

It's got an alloy bonnet, lighter than a carbon one, you twonk.
Bless you honey. I havent said the rsi isnt lighter, its just funny trying to make the rsi sound better with features such as a lighter bonnet. Giles's rsi looked good because he'd colour coded it and put oz f1s on it, the standard wheels are beyond awful and are about 10", and un colour coded its terrible imo.
x x

yeh they look gash standard, need 172 or aftermarket wheels and color coding, but overall i'd still take the dynamique.

The dynamique has stiffer suspension, thicker ARB. The ONLY thing that would make me want an RSi is the cable throttle. The dynamique is just a "better" car IMO and so will hold it's money longer.....

What are the engines like at low revs? I do alot of driving in heavy traffic and currently my in my 1.2 i have a lot of times when im going to fast to stay in 1st but not enough torque to keep it smooth in 2nd. Really i want to know what low end torque is like in either.
