Conti's or Toyo on my 197?

Car  BMW 320 M Sport, 197
I need new front tyres and with winter around the corner, need to be good in the wet.
I'm thinking either:
Contisport Contact 3 (£117.80 p/t from MyTyres)
Toyo Proxes T1-R (£83.60 p/t from MyTyres)

Should I go with the Conti's that I know grip or the cheaper Toyo's?
(I have no experience of either in the wet)
And is this price the best I will get or is there anywhere else apart from Black Circles?

In the Tests here the Toyos are always not very good under wet conditions. The Goodyear Optigrip had the best Wet Notes so far...

Here the Test of the German Car Club. The less the Number, the better at the condition. This is a Summer Tyre Test, as you seem to want some of those for the Winter ;) Tested Size at this Test was 205/55/16

The W for exaple is the Speed Index, the xx bis xx Numbers are Prices from - to in Euros.

Hope thatll help and its understandable ;)

Hmmm why? Just those 2 Tyres for you? Then get the Contis. Simple Answer ;)

P.S. : Edited the Post so it should be readable :D

Just seeing if other people have thoughts on these 2 tyres and if anyone has used them.
Best price I can find again is:
Contisport Contact 3 (£249.50 from KwikFit)
Toyo Proxes T1-R (£169.60 through BlackCircles)

pay for what you get with tyres, im not a fan of the t1-r myself in any way shape of form. contisport would be my choice from those two

Id go for the Conti's. Whilst the toyos arent bad i think theres a reason they would be put on the car from the factory.

My mate has just fitted Kumho's to his 197 and reckons there is f**k all difference from the conti's he used to swear by.

£35 a corner too iirc.

Kumhos at £35 a corner can no way be as good as conti's costing over 3 times the price! I've had Kumhos when I couldn't afford decent tread and there is a reason they are cheap.

I'm on my fifth set of tyres in 18 months, I've used Conti's, Toyo's and Kumho's...

Conti's imo are great, probably get another set next...

Toyo's aren't bad but not as good as Conti's, especially in the wet...

Kumho's drive nice but there's f**k all grip from them, and let go suddenly

Conti's = Yes
Toyo's = Maybe
Kumho's = No thanks (maybe if you don't really drive hard they're okay)

Hope this helps bud :)

A lot to be said for using OEM tyres on the Renault Sports. They got it right choosing the PE2 for the 182 and it sounds like they got it right choosing the Conti for the 197.

They really did,

I had Toyos on one of the Cars i owned, the Dry Grip is really good, but in the end youre at the same Price as the Contis or whatever because theyre gone fast...

Well I bought some contisport 3 from eBay and including delivery and fitting today, ordered them yesterday cost £120 all in!! There's still 8mm of tread left, barely worn in tyres and the grip was immense! Took it round a roundabout near me and I just wanted to go faster and faster, can't fault them, and for the price they can't be beaten!
Very happy with the purchase :D

Never buy used Tyres.. YOu never know what happend to them before, you cant see through the Tyre if the Carcass is broken for example...

But wish you luck and fun withem anyway ;)

Iknow, I was very wary about buying used tyres but these are barely worn in, just had some rubber on them from driving on a track but were in good shape otherwise the tyre fitter wouldn't have fit them I'm sure!
