Re: Iceberg 172 Cup Project

Ah ok! How long does it stay like that for? I need to invest in some decent stuff and get a few lessons!

Re: Iceberg 172 Cup Project

I find the more you use it, the longer it lasts :)

I tend to do it whenever I clean the car tbh, only takes a few minutes

Re: Iceberg 172 Cup Project

Not long got home from having my exhaust fitted, via a rather long detour to give it a run :)

First impression is very impressed! :D Love the sound of it and the fit was spot on :approve:

Also got a new rear wiper on this afternoon, as the old arm had a crack in the plastic some how.

Hopefully I'll get a video and couple of photos of the exhaust tomorrow.

Re: Iceberg 172 Cup Project

Small update; just bought a carbon Clio badge for the rear of the car from extremeinferno on eBay :)

Photo of one stolen from another thread :rasp: Looking forward to it arriving.

Your car is so smart bud. Makes me wish i had a silver cup instead of blue

Cheers :)

Picking up my pocket hd video camera tomorrow morning, so should have a video of the exhaust before the end of the day hopefully :D

Couple of small updates from this evening :)

Replaced the oily effect front indicator bulbs with silver ones. Suits the car so much more imo

And my carbon rear badge arrived today, so that's gone straight onto the car, very impressed with the quality again

Looking good mate, any pics of the badge from further away?

Have recently replaced my bushes for powerflex too!

Re: Iceberg 172 Cup Project

No photos of the badge from further away yet, but i'll get one :)

The silver Renaultsport badges are still over on the left so it looks a bit pikey at the moment lol!

I planned to get it on the car the same time as the KTR engine mounts

However, I ordered the powerflex dogbone from a different place and it's taken until now for it to arrive! lol!

Re: Iceberg 172 Cup Project

Gave the car a clean this morning, and removed the silver Renault and Sport badges from the boot :)

They didn't look right with the carbon clio badge; so as it looks now

Just need to sort the rear diamond now, either carbon or sprayed anthracite. I think steamline carbon may do a carbon replacement so will look into it :)

Re: Iceberg 172 Cup Project

Unexpected update from today; I knew my battery wouldn't last for all that much longer, but it got to the point where the car was struggling to start because of it!

Had it checked and it was well and truly K.O'd so went and found a replacement. Went for a Bosch silver S5 :) I used a Bosch S4 on my old car and it was great, so thought I'd stick with similar

Will be ordering new brakes in the next few weeks I imagine; Brembo HC discs and Carbone Lorraine pads I think :)

Re: Iceberg 172 Cup Project

Stunning! I nearly bought that Clio badge on eBay but didn't think it'd look right without the RS badge... How wrong was I!

very impressed with the car, keep up the work!!

Cheers! :)

Think it's tidied up the rear just having the Clio badge alone; just needs the carbon diamond to finish it off now I feel :D

I have a feeling the external temp sensor may be slightly f**ked too!! Just a guess lol :D

be careful with the loraine pads, hear they eat disks, I have got the brembo hc disks and ferodo pads, brilliant combination recently took them on the track at castle combe, brilliant mate recommend them over and over

They'll also (the CL pads) stain your wheels, paintwork!

Re: Iceberg 172 Cup Project

Maybe I'll have to look into something different pad wise then!

I'm assuming the Ferodo's give similar performance, without all the dust? :rasp:

Re: Iceberg 172 Cup Project

There looks to be very little difference in price between the two :) I'm sure whichever I'll feel a noticeable difference over the standard set up!

New wipers arrived today too; Bosch aero :)

Slight issue appeared though, in the mornings the car won't start first time! The old battery was knackered and has been replaced, but the problem still persists; turns over and then dies. Try again and it starts without any issue! Same every morning! :S

The new battery has been checked, along with the alternator, plugs and leads and there's no problems to be found there.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated? Going to have to take a look at the starter motor otherwise I think

It may be the TDC sensor mate, having seen this thread it sounds similar to the symptoms:

Found some of the missing '172 cup' badges from the door pillars on eBay brand new for a very reasonable £5.50

So, they'll be on the way soon! :)

Re: Iceberg 172 Cup Project

Your car is really smart, i love it.

As said above the CL pads are just for men really ;) your nice cup would be more suited to Ferodo DS2500's.

They will give you more than enough braking performance.

Your none starting problem deffo sounds like the TDC sensor :)

I have the same Battery LOL

As for Brakes, I Run Brembo HC Discs front with Ferodo DS2500's, and rear OEM Discs with Ferodo DS2500's.

Yeah, the staining from the CL pads would annoy me I think, as I do like to keep it looking relatively clean...even though I'm an epic hero tbqfh :rasp: lol!!

It seems people running DS2500's are generally very happy with them, so I'm sure they'll be more than sufficient :approve:

Strange one about the none starting problem, it seems have been absolutely the past few days, no issues at all! It's probably worth while me giving the tdc sensor a clean anyway regardless :)
