172 hubs on 182 with cup packs

Basicly thinking of doing this what are the costs involved?

How much are 172 hubs?

Can I use 182 cup wheels on them with no problems?

What else do I need?

I'm thinking of running fk konigsport coilovers and 172 hubs using standard 182 cup pack wheels.

Larger range of coilovers without having to get stuff machined.

I'd have thought that different driveshafts may be needed.

just wanting to see the costs involed because it may be cheaper to convert to 172 hubs and get fk, kw coilovers etc instead of buying ast's or H&Rs for the original hubs.

Not a bad idea, but you'll be making the track narrower, and i'd imagine that by the time all the work has been done you may as well get some cup ones. I think it's DS and hubs that need doing. Presumably all the rest of the steering etc would be the same. I'm sure Fred would be able to tell you.

Thought the track was only wider because of the wheel offset? Didn't think about drive shafts hmmm starting to sound costly.

Fred, slightly OT but which shafts fit the laguna hubs bar obviously the sadevs?

No need for D/S I've done the opposite on my Ph1 172 fitted just the 182 cup hubs with new bearings and abs leads. HTH

^I've always wondered whether you could get away with just changing the hub carriers.

If I was in the market for a 182 and couldnt find a decent one with both cup packs, I'd be wanting to fit the cup hub carriers

I only done it because the coilovers I was buying were 182 cup fitment and the seller offered to throw in a set of refurbed hubs in for free.

182 drive flanges must be different to 172 ones then!

Hmmm right doesn't sound to straight forward. I'm enquiring about new trophy dampers aswel so hopefully they will be a cheaper option.
