I sold my Black Ph1 to help buy my house and ended up in a Punto HGT, which wasn’t a bad car at all and hardly cost anything to keep on the road. But I did miss my Ph1, it was my third 172 but probably the one I got most attached to.
So when I had settled in the house and got a bit of spare cash I decided to get another 172, didn’t want another Ph1 so set off looking at Cups. I ended up buying the first I looked at. It was on 17’s, had a double barrel Powerflow exhaust, PiperX induction kit, lowered on Apex, splitter was knackered and a front fog light was smashed. But the bodywork was immaculate, had only done 47300 miles, FSH and a recent belt change.
First thing I did was to find another Oz F1 to complete a set I had in the garage and have them refurbed in anthracite.
I fit a Fabia splitter, really can’t go wrong for £11.
One of my rear wheel bearings was shot and the brakes on the back had seen better days, so I decided to replace the discs, bearings and pads. My new next door neighbour works for Mintex so thought I’d give them a go.
I’m going to do the fronts soon and will spend a bit more money on them I think.
The exhaust on it is a cat back Powerflow system and I’m pretty sure it’s in one piece, which isn’t something I’d seen before on a 172. It sounds alright but the tailpipes really let it down.
So I cut them off…
I had this in the garage, it’s not great but thought it would be an improvement.
It wasn’t quite long enough so had to extend it with a bit of aluminium tube.
Cut to length and secured…
It’s not ideal, but I think it’s an improvement and was worth the hour it took to do. It will probably end up having a custom stealth system fitted in the next couple of months.
Had it a month now and have done 1000 miles, so she's on 48300.
