So THAT'S why it took me so long to stop...

Just fitted Brembo max front discs as my brakes felt a little...err...dangerous and when I took the old discs off I discovered this on the inside surface (the outside looked fin btw). Have you ever seen discs looking so bad?

I nearly killed myself flooring it up the slip road onto the M4 ony to discover the traffic was at a standstill! Thank F**K for the hard shoulder!

The Brembo discs are the nuts - feel like a new car,

When I bought the car (recently!) they seemed fine but I wanted to replace the discs anyway.

Only got round to it this weekend cos every time I decided to change them something came up (family, work, rain etc).

I knew they were bad but didn't expect this! The outside surface you see through the wheels is fine so I had no idea the inside surface could possibly be this bad!

Makes me wonder what other horrors I'm gonna find when I start looking propoerly!

Has the car been serviced recently? Nobody should ignore discs like that on a service...

What about MOT? They're a fail right there!

MOT is due in December which is one of the reason's I got round to changing them. The service history was a bit sketchy when I got the car but was apparently serviced in Feb this year. Could they have got that bad since then.

Bah, still another few thousand in them yet FPMSL. This is why it pays to get your car serviced properly!!!

They should have indeed been an MOT fail yes based on visual inspection alone let alone the braking effort/force test... I bet the force balance would be all over the shop on them!

I actually don't understand how you did spot this just walking up to your car? Mental!

I'm a bit of a novice with a spanner but I'm not a complete moron (I've been tested in a lab!)

Now which sides of the brake pads was I supposed to grease....

Did you look at the car before you bought it? Would have got the the seller to replace or knock some money off.

How was he supposed to spot that? I am pretty anal when looking at cars , but would of completely missed this myself if the outside surface looked good..
