Thinking ahead regarding engines for the rally car , tuners are getting up to 290hp out of other makes of 2.0lt engines , what power can you get out of top spec engines , money no problem , steel crank and rods , forged pistons , ultimate spec head , throttle bodies ect.

Is 250/260 hp possible from these engines ?

Cheers Ian

  Trophy Turbo :)
Nick, Id imagine Ian will be doing the work him self :) I had a NA engine that when built cost close to £5000 plus the ITBS and the most we got out of it was 241Bhp

The most powerful one on here was circa 240BHP iirc..

Very difficult to gain big NA power from the F4R!

was this a cup? think it had forged internals, headwork, cams, itbs and aftermarket engine management to achieve this

We have this problem with the Hondas, they've got a 70-80bhp head start on us,but bugger spending 7-12k for a few more horses,we'll make do.
F4R engines very good standard, difficult to tune and costly.Good luck.

I saw those 2 integra DC5's who run in tintops at Donnington... £££££ on the engines

Apparantly one of them is having a new engine built?! (I know the Hampshire team who race in the Peugeot 306)

think you can see 240 without headwork? Either way best part of 4 to 5 grand. Depressing really

The work by Tour-De-Force has been completed. Its had a new EC1 ecu + cal, Renault ecu removed, engine bay loom separated and removed what wasn't needed, control box wired up, DASH2 fitted and calibrated, heated windscreen wired up and much much more.

The car made 232bhp and 174ftlb

Good gains, but a Honda H22A7 is near the same CC a few more and has that power standard on a good one.

Be nice to see a 250hp+ F4 though.

250BHP+ from an F4R would scream like hell. They don't really like to rev like Hondas though. Seeing as you have to spend pretty much the above to get them to rev past 7,800 without self destructing lol

Besides, if Burpspeed can race one on stock internals on itbs...

That's a lot of piggy bank money

We have options upto 280bhp naturally aspirated. That costs a few quid though!

230bhp is fairly easy and not too expensive in comparison to F4Rs with higher outputs. The expense of the F4Rs making over 240bhp is in the valvetrain as for the revs required (8500RPM S2000, 9000RPM none S2000) the stock setup is no good at all. The head also needs some expensive work with the port moving upwards in the head to allow a downdraft type port to be created.

The F4R is no more difficult to get high specific outputs from than anything else, just costs a few quid more than say a Duratec.

Would be fantastic to have one, stick one up the Honda's,but we just haven't got that sort of money.:(

haha :rasp:

Get a old honda shed and join vtec challange this year, the series has some VERY interesting cars coming into it.
