ITB'd cars, wheres your rev limit? any rr graphs?

looking for standard engines really, when i got my itb'd 172 the rev limit was set at 7800, which seemed high to me, i now have it at 7200, the car was mapped at rstuning with the 7800, is there power up that high? seems a bit high for standard b/e!?

7800rpm is perfectly safe for a standard bottom end, its not to do with power having the rev limit that high, for the track day boys and racers etc it helps out on track

Yeah i think mine revs to 7600 i think.

Whats the max RPM the car can rev at all day on a standard bottom end? As in driving it hard all day on track?

We actually don't rev it that high very much at all, there is no need, just depends on the circuit.

Oh right, the only reason i asked about the reving is that i love driving the Nurburgring and on a certian part of the track the car has to stay in 4th at about 7200rpm for about 45 seconds and i allways felt like my engine wasnt going to last long if i stayed doing that lap after lap. So i was changing into 5th but the car slows down too much because of the gearing. I'll just have to get more speed out of the last corner and be quick enought to use 5th lol

thought so! LOL unless you have 300+bhp i wouldn't bother reving the **** off it up that bit, plonk it in 5th, let the fast boys past then catch up later

Yeah, its the gayest part of the track/road. I do end up catching some cars up a the karoussel tho which is fun.

No Nurburgring for me this year tho :( spending the year doing UK Trackdays instead :)

7800, went to 8k on rollers, no real increase in power, thought safer to limit it to 7800.

cold limiter this time of year keeps catching me out though. 4500 rpm untill it pretty much warm lol, normally i drive at 3k but sometimes i overtake cars on a hill half a mile from home and it just hits cold limiter whoops haha
