Rear brake problems on my 182

  182
Had a scraping noise coming from my rear brakes so my Dad has had a look while i was away.

Passenger side pads are worn down to the metal but drivers side looks fine. Extreme scoring on the the back of the passenger disk and he struggled to get the piston back using a windback tool, even with the piston back as far as he could get it he struggled to get the inner pad in so he had to grind some off to get the pad in to get the car home. Is it any easier to get the piston back with the caliper off?

I thought i needed new disks in the past so bought some without bearings in, but have access to bearing press. There is a bearing shop near me, or am i better buying the bearings direct from renault? Does anybody know the spec of the bearing i need?

Are there any guides etc on how to replace the rear bearings and disks? Any ideas of a rough cost from a garage?

Thanks in advance,
Scott

sounds like youv got a similar problem 2me fella which is a seized rear caliper... its easy enough to change the rear discs over as iv just done new pads and dics all round on my cup and its the 1st time iv ever tackled the job. just abit of a b**ch if your bearing decides 2 split so only half comes off with the disc... theres a good guide on here as i had a very quick look at before i tackled the job which was simple enough with the correct tools

Sorted now thanks. Had the caliper off and put only the bolts back in, i think there might have been a slight problem with the threads as this sorted the problem. While i was there i noticed the disks are in very poor condition so ive bought some bearings so i can replace them. I'll have a look at the guide thanks mate

Did you buy bearing and discs separately? They come complete if you get them from Renault, recommended.

What was the problem then? Sounds like a sticking piston to me which doesnt just go away.

Yeah very true!!
If it's a sticky piston or seized caliper under hard braking I'm sure it would pull to one side!
Are these quite common as I got under my car the other day and my rear calipers look almost new?!
