Never understood this.

I queued once for my iPhone 4, because O2 refused to do pre orders. But that was on the day.

I queued for a midnight launch of a certain game before, and I will never live that down. A definite low point in my life.

Those two must have loads of friends.

Solihull is the best place to not have to queue for long. We turned up for the original iPad launch at about 5:30am and were the only people there. We ended up getting in to the centre early as a lady from Costa got to work and just pushed open the electric door an let us through. I think there were around 30 people in the queue as they opened.

I wondered about this recently. Does Apple have a budget to hire in Students/ jobless people to live outside their shops for stuff like this, or are people really this sad? The Amsterdam Apple store (first one in NL) opened a week or so ago, and there was a couple of people camping outside it for a few days prior... just for an opening and a free T-Shirt.

I'm just hoping that it's Apple Marketing bods trying to create some hype and not the level of consumerism that it appears to be.

The first ones always have problems anyway, wait a few months till the beta testing (ie the public buying them and finding issues) has finished IMHO

They must have properly boring lives to feel 5 days spent outside a shop is good use of their time.

Probably best you stick to car advice.

Just going by the iphone 4 where they had to send everyone out a case to fix the fact they hadnt allowed for people holding them interferes with reception etc. lol

Wouldnt exactly fill me with confidence buying the first on the shelf of any apple product.

Mind you TBH, cars are also the same, much more likely to have a recall on the first batch, same with ANY technology based product I would say really.

One product, that didn't even have a real problem. It was just blown-up because its Apple. Gave a few cases away. Changed nothing and the phone still sold millions and nobody mentions it anymore.

No reason to wait at all.

Lol, I see you are one of those apple fan boy types, and it WASNT a dig at your precious apple though, was just in general about any technology product. so not going to argue the toss over it.
In fact I have a 3gs ive had for over 2 years, no major faults in that time, very happy with it. Am not anti-apple at all.
Fundamentally the longer any product has been out before you buy one, the more likely any software/firmware/hardware bugs have been ironed out.
So statistically the sooner you get it, the less likely it will be problem free.

In america people have started queing for Air Yeezy II's and they dont come out for a month. Sleeping outside for trainers ftl.

Okay. Resorting to calling me a fanboy because I know more than you. Brilliant.

I'll go find all your long winded posts about remaps and call you a fanboy. BRB.

Ok mate, have fun :)

I am a remap fanboy though, so wont be getting offended if you say so, Im of the opinion that most vehicles can benefit from a tweak to the map, so are the manufacturers, hence why all the later released cars ALWAYS (I honest cant think of any modern exception) have revisions done to the maps as part of the service schedule etc.

I got this on launch, had the problem, but it never stopped me getting a 4S on launch, or ordering the iPad (3rd gen) either.

They made one mistake, not enough to lose faith in Apple over.

As I have said, not a dig at apple specifically at all, no idea why it has been interpreted that way TBH, all technology product based companies will have issues at launch at some point if they sell enough products.
Ive been involved in writing software to varying extents for 30 years, so I am aware that bugs dont always appear during initial testing and can make it to market.

Its just my general attitude to any technology item, if you want a hassle free life, dont be an early adopter seems a prudent approach.

  An orange one
what a couple of bell ends.. FFS it does nothing that an ipad 2 doesnt (within reason) and i bet they both own one

just wait a week, have some nice lie ins and then when they are restocked, just casually go into town and wait approx 5 mins while they retrive one from the stock room and sell it to you

I think it may have been the wording of your initial statement. Slightly sweeping.

Its unlikely to have OS issues, because the OS is 'old'. The hardware is an evolution of the existing product so again its wrong to assume issues with something thats had none for a year. The only exception is the display, thats probably the only element that could have issues as its the most state of the art thing on the iPad.

Tom, I think the oppposite TBH, the problem was my original statement wasnt sweeping enough maybe, ie people thought it was just about apple products rather than all technology products.

Either way, just for the record so I dont get stoned to death by anyone driving a bmw wearing an apple t-shirt at my next trackday, i am a happy Apple user and have no problems with their products, lol

People will sit outside your house and wait for you to come home. They like sitting and doing nothing for hours and hours.

Flol

If you were looking for a stalker then any nerd loved product launch is probably a good place to find one.

The fanboy thing annoys me a little, always involves Apple and is usually a sure sign of someone losing an argument on here.

Or in this case a sure sign of someone just really think its not worth arguing over at all in the first place.

Wasnt attempting to start a "samsung is better than apple" or whatever argument as I honestly couldnt care less if either or both companies succeeed or fail TBH, doesnt effect me at all.

I assume a lot of such arguing happens on here and thats why my comment got so misinterpreted as anti-apple by the boys who are massive fans of their products, but its not something I have ever or will ever be involved in for the simple reason i couldnt care less what company makes a product if its a good product, same way I am with cars in fact.
