Burpspeed Version 2: Race Car Build

  172 Race Car
We haz tyres!

After a long think about all things black and round weve decided to invest in a set of these. Our Dunlops are shocking in the wet and the alternative weve got (michelin PE2) are superb in the wet but not good on a drying track (on our car) Last year at anglsey we started the quali session on PE2's and were running 2nd fastest on a drying track. as a dry line appeared we went backwards and ended up 11th on the grid. We know these have pretty good dry pace as one of the other Clio's in our series has used them. R888's are better in damp conditions than the Dunlops so its a logical choice. Weve been lucky so far not to of had any wet races but this coming monday could be it. Closest we got to wet race was the downpour that Tony had at the end of the Silverstone round last year.

14:30 onwards

Are they those new(ish) Toyo ones? How long does a set of tyres last you out of interest?

Epic skills from Tony to keep hold of that.

Brand new mate, still got the stickers on see.

Tyres last a lot longer nowdays than in our first season. Car setup so much better but depends on the track and weather,

Tyres on, car washed. Good polish up tomorrow (for that extra nano second) . RainX on screen, trailer lights work, tyre pressure's on trailer done.

Just got to load van with cloths and food stuff and we are ready to go.

Roll on Sunday afternoon :)

At the moment Timmy, it's not looking too bad, 1mm during the day, so that's not a lot, and would dry out quickly.

Oh and the Bedmonsta has been baking, couple of cakes to nibble on, yum. Oh and flapjack. :)

Tony how come you used to race in Hungary?

Hungarian privateer BMW runner Norbert Michelisz took pride of place in front of huge crowds in the nation’s capital. He’d won the Hungarian Sportsman Of The Year prize, plus had taken pole position in Slovakia.

Heard about them driving the streets of Budapest as part of the festival week. Next race is out there.

1st met Norby when he was in the Astra challange, wrapped it around a tree on the hill climb, he was lucky it was left hand drive, the rollcage was touching the gearbox tunnel .

We were next up the hill, didn't fancy it much after watching it come back on a truck. They fixed t he armco with some plastic tape lol.
Long story, but it was fun. Basically I was asked to go out there.

Sounds good Tony :)

I'm getting to TDF for 2 and then going to get sorted with the car and then set off so I'm guessing I'll get to circuit at 6.00ish :) Let me know if you want to do something for dinner on Sunday if you haven't already got plans and we'll get something sorted!
