182 Touge/Tuner Build

Question for the ClioSport boffins here (will probably also pop it up in a separate thread if need be).

I've thought of using those spare buttons on the Nardi Personal to run cruise control, but my 182RS didn't come with cruise(?) from what I can see.

Would fitting cruise control to my non-cruise RS be a thing, and would I be able to wire up some of the buttons on my wheel to operate it?

Just asking before I pursue it and accidentally turn it into a forever project :ROFLMAO:

Afaik unless yours is a Cup which I’m fairly sure it isn’t then it should have CC as standard, so the wiring should be there somewhere 🤷‍♂️

Mine's got the rain sensing wipers and xenons, so I think it's just a regular ol 182.

Lovely stuff that the wiring's in there. So basically just a case of getting the squib/controls etc, and then making that work with the buttons on the Nardi?

I presume so mate.

The cruise buttons work by resistance so you would need to add required resistors if not present already. On 182 id imagine the rest of the wiring will already be fitted, add cruise squib, cruise and clutch switch and your away.

Bloody lovely stuff. Now I've got Players out of the way (managed to win top 5 with one of my clients!), I've got a bit of time.

Think that's a job for this weekend since the seller was kind enough to ship the wheel on over with a boss & wiring too. 😁

Aye! The joys of buying a car on a platform I'm completely unfamiliar with, with zero paperwork.

A severe case of "what on earth even is this?" :ROFLMAO:

Ha Yep! I’m still learning too but with the help of this forum I’m sure you’ll get to grips with these baguettes. There’s tones of info you just need to search about.

Do you have this panel by chance, this should determine if the CC is present or not?

That I do good sir, which I can assume is an indicator I've got the right wiring and spec somewhere in the car?
(I know this as I've hit that button instead of the ESP on several occasions I've tried to depart in a blaze of glory/tyre smoke)

And this forum's taught me more about cars in the couple of months I've owned the Clio than *years* of Honda tinkering. You people are lovely. 😁

If you press the cruise switch, do you get Set come up on the dash?

I managed to retro fit cruise to my 172.

I added the clutch switch, A 182 Squib & a Volantech panel for the operation of cruise etc.

There is also a guide on here

Just looked through my photos of when I retrofitted my cruise.

Have Attached photos of the squib, cruise panel & the wiring.

From Memory the black plug is for cruise & the grey plug is horn. The two yellows are for the airbag.

So check your car & if you have the black plug I believe you will already have the correct squib.

@Brigsy Does that sound correct as you know a lot more than I do.

You are a truly incredible individual good sir, words can't describe how helpful having a visual reference is.

That's made this weekend's excursion on the tools infinitely more well-informed. :)

Just hit the four month mark of owning this thing.

After four months and ~12k miles of daily driving it - usually like a complete yob, I genuinely couldn’t be happier.

I’ve had my fair share of oddball motors including a Nissan Sunny I bought off Beaulieu Motor Museum, unironically building a VW Caddy and Honda Jazz into rather potent cars, a Classic Mini, three old Hondas and a brief love affair with a Bentley Continental, but the Clio has taken the cake of all-time joyous ownership.

The car’s on 175k miles and in spite of ending up in the hands of a 00s boy racer born a solid 25 years too late, it’s been a champion. Also, these are way easier to tinker on than Hondas and you lot are way nicer than Honda guys.

Took it out for an after dark celebratory A-road blast, came out of a Tesco completely sideways by accident and gave a couple of people the spectacle of me completely opposite locking the s**t out of it standing on the top of second gear with a rather panicked expression, and rinsed a UK Garage CD. Life is good, and so is this Clio.

I am an exceedingly happy chap in this car and I’m glad I bought this instead of the JZX110 I originally intended on owning.

Looking forward to giving it some TLC over the coming weeks.

Carbon bonnet and Nardi Personal fitted. Pleased to report that the Clio looks a little bit meaner* and is now rightly equipped with cruise control.

The induction note gets blasted directly into your face now thanks to the bonnet vents, which is an added bonus. It sounds biblical.

*Ignore the postage label that absolutely will not go away. It survived brake cleaner, so I’ll be dealing with that in the daytime pre C&M.

Rather substantial Nardi-related happenings inside the gaff.

Fitting this wasn’t tooooo bad, just a case of sacrificing some cruise control buttons for their wiring and extending the horn wire a bit to account for the boss. I’ve driven the car 40 miles home and haven’t caught fire yet, so I think the install has gone well.

The cockpit’s now a nice place to exist and accounts a bit better for my proportions. Final step is to get the GReddy gauges installed.

After a lot of swearing, Autoglym tar remover, and the unfortunate sacrifice of my Tesco Clubcard (RIP 🫡), I have defeated the no-no square.

Removing the Renomotive postage label glue was legitimately harder than fitting the bonnet itself lol

Pleased to report that the yobmobile/French rice rocket is getting somewhere.

The catches on the bonnet were shagged and I'm inclined to say somebody before me had a go at removing them & turned all of the allen key holes into circles in doing so. In the interim, I've got the standard bonnet catch mounted up to mine while I order some new mounting hardware.

Secured some seat bases, so the next jobs are to fit my Sparco bucket seats, have the bonnet properly mounted with clean hardware, and put some tyres on my Momo alloys. Shall also be purchasing an intake off ScottRallye, hopefully this week, given the poor state of the induction kit that came on the car.

Question for the suspension gurus. I've been offered a set of Bilstein x Pure Motorsport coilovers for an exceedingly good price by my friend, should I go for them?

I've read great things about them and they seem to suit my use case of taking the car out on the twisties after dark, but it'd be nice to get a second opinion.

If these are solid and will last, I can trig up on them pretty damn fast.

Purists look away.

Been doing some ponderation and some digging, and in my digging, I located this spoiler and these headlight covers.

Unfortunately, I quite like them. Double unfortunately, I find the concept of switching to a Campus tailgate and putting a Campus plate recess into a 182 bumper an interesting one.

I feel like in time I will be exiled from Cliosport for my crimes against Clios. I also learned today that my Clio has had 17 previous owners, so I feel like of all of the Clios to modify, a 173k mile example with 17 previous owners probably isn't the most sacrilegious.

Hmm. 🤔 🤔 🤔 🤔
