    Key fob range

Mine has pathetic range. Still easier than sticking the key in the door though! Never heard of putting it near your head before.

    KTEC Stealth

I was'nt ;) Was too boomy for my taste. The sports cat fitted at the same time did increase resonance though I expect (I did'nt realise this before hand). I don't hold this against you though! The whole system was well fitted, and it did sound the nuts when gunning it.

    172 cup Dangerous when wet?

That could be your problem mate. Usually best to keep a steady throttle round the bends - balances the grip better by keeping some weight on the rear tyres. I got caught out once on a greasy road when I first got mine. Honestly can't remember if I had lifted off the throttle or not, but I...

    Top speed of my car?

My speedo seems pretty good. Read 135-136 at gps 134. Still to bounce it off limiter in top

    RS Focus v Clio 182

No its not :nono: Evo have voiced their suspicions that the press cars were tweaked on a number of occasions. It would explain the rampant torque steer they experienced but RS owner's don't. It is a well known rumour. Pardon you ;)

brakes feel stiff - should cup brakes feel different to 172ff?

I think the brakes are engineered to give more feel on the Cup's (go's a little way to make up for the lack of ABS I guess!). So yes - they should feel different. Whether there is actually something wrong with your brakes....suggest you get them checked out if your worried.

    172 v 172 cup

Have a go on the search function mate. This is our favourite topic ;) FWIW the main difference in terms of comfort is that most Cup's do not have air con. The suspension setup is more than bearable IMO

tyres for 172 cup around £130ish - any suggestions?

I got a local tyre fitter to price match Mytyres for Michelin PE2's - two fitted £140 :)

    Declaring Mods for Insurance

^^Thats a piss take! And leads on to my question to TheCake - what about consumable items like air filters and brake pads? (agree with what you have said so far) I have an ITG Panel and I'm wondering if its really worth declaring. It is at the moment - but I feel it's been lumped in with...

    Kubica Crash

Is that even an F1 car though? I find it hard to believe an F1 car as recent as '99 would disintegrate like that - maybe in early 90's. RE Kubica's incident - that is the most savage crash I've seen in recent years  Glad he got out ok.

    F.A.O all 1*2 owners.

Yes indeed  I found that out to my cost recently (not the a belt letting go luckily but time, inconvenience and a little money) The previous owner had the 36k done by a Renault dealer and they did'nt do the aux belt. Found out when I rang the dealer up. Numpties did'nt seem to...

    Pagid Blue's - Have I F***ed them?

    phase 1 172 exhaust

Have you heard my exhaust? Thats a Pro-speed stealth 'mid-sport note' according to the reciept. Cost me £300 fitted. (I do have a sports cat though which increases resonance a tad) It is much less boomy than the K-tec stealth I had before (but they have revised the design since then I believe)...

Indeed. You know its right ;)

    Mod friendly insurance companies?

Right, I need to renew this month; the cheaper the better! :) Car: 172 Cup - mods: sports cat, cat back exhaust system, panel filter (should I even bother declaring the filter??) Driver - 24 years old, 1 years no claim, driving 15,000 miles per year I'm currently with Elephant and their...
