I've been to places that make the shittiest parts of Notts look like paradise in comparison lol, the whole country is a shithole, we just have rather a lot of decent places that sort of make up for it....a bit.
Bit of an update on the damage for those interested, last we heard from the repair...
There's only 1 person who can answer that question
Driving into the rear quarter of the car to induce a spin ;) the clio hit the left rear wheel making her car spin & hit the kerb, I've not seen the car myself so no idea what's damaged & nor has she as the car got picked up there & then by...
Hoping the lovely folks on here can help track down the scumbag that decided it'd be a good idea to PIT manoeuvre my mates Mrs off the road this evening & then do a runner
It happened around 22.45 on Mansfield Road in the Redhill area of Arnold, Nottingham & from her description the car...
Glad to hear you've got a decent settlement so quickly but for the sake of £400 surely it's worth having the car back for all the spares you'll ever want/need, especially since you're getting another 1 of the same car.
How much more are you getting than what you paid for the car?
The insurance company will be doing this as it will be quicker & cheaper for them to just pay out instead of having to go through the motions of fixing it as it takes time & time = money, so really they're doing it to keep costs & ultimately our premiums down - probably not  but I'm an...
Had this damage to mine when the rear axle of a Corsa hit me. After my excess & the cost of buying the car back were deducted from the settlement figure I got £1,200 & it cost me £600 to get it fixed :rasp:
That £600 came in bloody handy as 2 months after I got it fixed the clutch died so I...
Classic case of insurance company being lazy, they cba to deal with it basically as it's easier for them to just pay you off than it is to go through the motions of paying to have it fixed.
Tell them you want to keep the car and they'll just pay you accordingly, leaving you to go get it fixed...
Very true that, remember seeing a williams being driven by an instructor at Rockingham last year & it was seriously showing up 911's, M3's Caterham etc, was easily the fastest car on track when the instructor was behind the wheel
Tyres & brakes not much point spending money on anything else if it's your 1st track day, do those & see how you get on. Then if you fancy doing more you'll have a better idea of what to spend money on next ;)
An air/vacuum leak around the inlet will make the hydrocarbons go ballistic, had exactly the same issue with my E30 when it was MOT'd & that was caused by a knackered inlet manifold gasket.
Find the air leak by spraying brake cleaner around the inlet manifold area & if the engine revs itself up...
Join www.clio16valver.co.uk, there's quite a few people on there who've built/building mk1's to be used for rallying So will probably have everything you need to know ;)
I'd say no to the tippex, I think you'll need to send it off as it is then fill in the replacement.
Explain the situation to the guy & show him the V5 to show you're not bulsh*tting & see if he's happy to continue, the V5 doesn't have anything to do with ownership of the car as such, it's...
+1 I learned a huge amount by doing this & now I've got the knowledge, skills-ish :o and confidence to be doing engine conversions by myself.
Don't be too harsh on garages & their prices as at the end of they day they need to make money to pay the bills just like the rest of us
Falsely hoped this thread was asking about interesting noise coming from the front of the car :dapprove:
But I'll try & turn it around......Beaniemoo's silly spec Mk1 has got to be the loudest I've ever heard, he's banned from Bedford Autodrome until he fits some sort of airbox to dampen the...
Could be a knackered heater matrix, what does the temperature gauge say, is it a bit crap on fuel?
Start with checking the coolant is topped up or flush it all out & put new stuff in along with using a hosepipe to flush each pipe out as the ones going into the car could be blocked & stopping...
I'm pretty sure your insurance company will be able to change the cover so that it's protected while it's stored in a garage for not a lot of money
ie; not insured to be driven but insured the same way your home contents can be insured
I would SORN, cancel the insurance & rent a garage to keep it in while you're gone, will save you the hassle of selling it plus the hassle of finding another 1 when you're back & the possibility of having to spend the money all over again to either get it to the same standard or fix/maintain...
