I always check true TDC by removing spark plug on #1 cyl and putting a long skewer down and watch its travel until its at its very peak, easy then and you wont mistakingly put the crank pin in the balancing hole.
IMO Probably the new Ktec one, seems to be the centre of discussion at the moment. Its turned out good results for everyone thats used it.
I still want to get mine re-dyno'd at SRR for some independant results though.
Not sure id file it under the fun category, but certainly satisfying when you start it up and it doesnt rattle its tits off and seize up in a cloud of smoke :D
