I had the same problem with my bilsteins, took the strut to my local specialist, it was a m9 thread had a fine pitch. Not a common size at all, wasnt even listed in his book.

Just fitted one, fingers crossed it holds and does its job. What is the car being used for? If its mainly road driving the circlip should be ok, rallying etc the clip is more likely to come off

Yes, take the clip off and tap it out with a hammer and old screwdriver, its what holds the pads in.

Tap out the piece of metal at the bottom that holds the pads in. They should then just pull out. Then wind the piston back, news pads in and secure with the piece of metal.

If the circlip had poped out then i take it you would lose drive instantly. Worth a check.
