Possibly the fuel pump pressure is low. My 172 was struggling to increase fuelling last week at RS tuning. They reckoned the fuel pump was getting a bit weak. Hardly surprising as its 12 years old and done 124,000 miles
You need to select which screen you want to reset and press the button on the screen to zero. If you zero the mileage on the first trip meter screen and the fuel used then it will zero all the screens except for the total mileage which remains.
If you hold the button on the stalk while you turn...
The standard figure was 134bhp at the wheel and 164 BHP overall. The biggest difference was the mid range fuelling mapping. It was erratic before the remap but much improved since. The torque is up by around 20 ft lbs.
I use a replacement performance filter in my airbox and it works really well. It had a cone filter on it when I bought the car and it was tucked down behind the radiator so it was sucking hot air into the engine. I bought a renault airbox for the 172 and did away with the cone filter. It...
I've used Radweld in my 172 and not had any problems with it clogging up the cooling system. It lost a bit of coolant a couple of times a while back so I put a bottle in the header tank and its not lost a drop since. That was over 2 years ago.
I was out over the Snake pass last Saturday in my daughters Corsa picking her up from Sheffield uni. I've got to take her back on Thursday night so might take the 172 for a blast. I take her car so she can drive it back. She hasn't any parking by her place in Sheffield so the car lives here. The...
Buy EVO. They are always banging on about Renaultsport cars. They really rate them highly. They've had several different models on the press fleet and almost every month there's some mention of them and head to head tests against other performance cars and invariably the Renault comes out on top
Look into trackday trophy series as mentioned already. MSV run it. They own five tracks. Oulton Park , Cadwell, Snetterton, Bedford, Brands Hatch. Motorsportvision.co.uk
I use my 172 for trackdays and fast road. I've done 15 trackdays since I bought it three and a half years ago and have added...
The Ph1's are really good. Mine is still in great condition. Everything still works and it's really comfortable as well. My daughters all say it's the best car I've ever had. I'll keep the Clio for as long as I possibly can and probably get all the paintwork tidied up at some stage so it looks...
I replaced the engine mountings with K Tec ones and Powerflex dogbone bush. That's stopped all the problems with the exhaust hitting the floor. Have you checked the exhaust mountings? If they are old and perished they need replacing. The one for the back box tends to break up. Is the clicking...
Phase 1 airbox and green cotton air filter element. That's what I use. Had a cone filter when I bought the car and although it sounds great it was sucking hot air into the inlet manifold. It runs much better with the OE airbox setup as it gets plenty of cold air into it and it's plenty big...
I had a polo when our two eldest were little. Got everything in without a problem so imagine a Clio will be fine. The isofix mountings are already in for fastening child seat straps.
It would look great in Matt red or liquid yellow. Renaultsport did some in those colours last year as an experiment and they look amazing
Also Gordini Blue as in the photos
My Ph1 has been superb. Bought three and a half years ago and done 15 trackdays as well as 35,000 miles of hard driving. Its an absolute blast to drive. It's still full interior and staying that way. I use it as my road car as well.I can jump in it and go anywhere and know it will get me there...
I took my 172 to RS Tuning in Leeds on Thursday for a stage 1 remap. It only took an hour to do it. The final figures were 167.1 bhp and 154 ft lbs torque. Power at the wheels 137.8 bhp. Not a huge increase in overall power from before the remap but the mid range and top end fuelling is much...
Mine has 124,000 miles. Just had it remapped at RS Tuning. 167.1 BHP. Pretty good for a 12 year old car with that sort of mileage.154 ft lbs torque. Its been a brilliant car and so much fun to drive.
Been over to Leeds today to RS Tuning for a stage 1 remap on the Clio. 167.1 bhp and 154 ft lb torque.137.8 bhp at the wheels.:cool:Not bad for a 12 year old car with 124,000 miles under its belt. Engine is standard with green cotton air filter element and Scorpion cat back stainless exhaust. It...
My car has DS2500 pads all round, braided lines and DOT5.1 fluid. Brembo HC front discs. The foglights are still there and I don't get any brake fade on track or fast driving over mountain roads. Toyo R1-R tyres for track and road use but the grip in heavy rain is a bit limited on the road but...
Definitely wheel balance. It will always show up at motorway speeds if any wheels need balancing especially on the front. Also if the wheel has any dents or is twisted then that will cause bad vibration.
205 tyres are just that bit too wide to fit properly under Ph1 wheel arches. I have a set of wolfrace 17" rims with 205/40 x 17 tyres. They rub on the wheel arches if the car is driven hard over bumpy roads. My standard wheels are 15" OZ F1's with 195/50 Toyo R1-R tyres
