I started small but got bored so went big. I chose a drill bit slightly wider than the torx hole. Think it was 8mm, I assumed what was left of the torx hole would centre the drill. Worked for me. The bolt is counter sunk against the disk so you will only damage the old disk if you are off...
On mine when it was knackered the rubber underneath was clearly torn.
I think the new Renault one I got could be moved fairly easily as you have done in the pics.
I've just fitted uprated ktec ones all round and there is some serious cabin vibe at idle, I wouldn't want it in my daily drive lol.
I did have the part numbers, I might be able to find them. IIRC there is an updated to 1809 or something to replace the 1509-01. I'll have a look at the numbers on mine.
I think he just means the cam pinion locking tool (85 quid Renault only), which is shown in the second picture above. Plus the cam timing tool shown in the first picture.
I've put new cams in mine. It is certainly doable for the competent home mechanic, I'm not a mechanic by trade just been...
Yes. The splined area on the stud in the pic sticks to the mount, if you hit it with a hammer there is enough movement for it to work loose.
You can also get to the nut at the bottom of the stud but it is very poor access, if you undo this one the stud will come out with the mount.
Depends on what you plan to use it for as well.
I was going to get an Elise/Exige but after crashing my car on my second track day I decided I'd be much happier crashing a clio than a lotus (price wise ;-). I would also hope that if I did crash again and wrote it off I'd be able to transplant...
It is rarely the lower gearbox mount. Normally one of the other three.
30 quid ish each for gearbox and dog bone mounts. 50 quid ish for upper engine one. See K-tec web site.
I just stumbled upon a picture of how to do it in the manual.
Squeeze, push in (you hear a click) then pullout dead easy lol.
Saw was ready and waiting.
Kwik fit will refill for 45 quid. They do a leak test in the process and if you have a leak there is no charge. But they didn't tell me where the leak was. They said the equipment could tell them that but they hadn't been trained to use it lol.
They put UV fluorescent die into the system and...
Have you seen this?

If you're competent it will be no problem. You need a decent range of normal tools though to get into all the small spaces.
You'll notice the Renault manual says you can do it without the pulley locking tool if you're not...
I use the chassis legs and jack from there also. The sill jack points look very weak to me and I saw loads of 172/182s with them folded over when I was looking for my 182.
I used filler primer to fill in the scratches. Takes loads of coats, prime, sand, prime, sand,... my wheels where in a shocking state though.
Also the final finish seems very soft and easily chipped compared to standard. I don't know how professional referbs stand up or how much you have to pay...
My 172 gearbox is covered in oil but when I topped up the gearbox it had only lost 800ml in 132000 miles so I wouldn't worry if your levels are OK and it is gearbox oil (smells foul).
