Yep the heavier lens does seem to help stabilize the panning quite a bit, especially when it's a bit breezy, I used to get an aching arm after 6hrs of holding my 80-200, used to it now though!

New lens has certainly treated you well, some awesome shots there. The 787 Escort and the Hillman shot (both sharp as hell) are great in particular, but the rear of the Escort (great catch on 3 wheels with a slow shutter speed) is just brilliant, love it.

I agree, technically brilliant and lighting is superb...that just about won it for me although the composition isn't great.

Were these taken with a tripod? Surely an ND4 is going to lose you a fair bit of light, meaning if all were taken at f8.0 you need a slower shutter speed to get an equivalent image...?

Worth pointing out: There is a big difference between "fit" and "will autofocus", the basic connections are the same as any Nikon has been for donkeys years, pretty much anything will work on a D40/60, the key is whether it will autofocus or not. Only the autofocus motor is missing from those...
