Thanks Chip. Just re-read the Pure guide so you are of course correct in that they screw in from the outside, was a good job that I read it because the studs only need to be tightened to 20nm - which doesn't sound a lot to me but they are of course the experts. Good idea regarding using two...
Thanks Chip, they're definitely Pure studs so may be like you say I can just unscrew them from the outside, which will be a lot easier!! Thanks again, Mark
Thanks Chip, I need though to remove the studs already in the rear disc to screw into the new 30mm spacer that will go on the front, these screw in with an Allen key from behind if my memory serves me. So I need to remove my disc - was just after the relevant torque settings for when I have to...
Thanks Chip, that makes perfect and obvious sense. I will simply bolt my existing 25mm spacer with studs already attached onto the rear and then bolt the new 30mm spacer onto the front and take the studs out of the rear and screw them into the new spacer on the front. I cant remember from...
Chip, looks like my setup is the same as yours, any reason why on the rear the studs screw directly into the hub and the spacer slides over it? I'm currently running 25mm front and 20mm rear but the fronts have the studs screwed into the spacer and then the spacer bolts to the hub. I've just...
I haven't heard of Grayson so cant comment either way, but these are not something you want to actively be looking to save money on. The PM kit is tried an tested and not IMO too much money, I've had them on my car for 2-3 years and had no problems whatsoever. You wont be able to use locking...
The quality of the PM stuff is always top so I personally wouldn't buy from anywhere else. I have the PM stud kit (as well as the full bearing kits, beam strengthening kit and wishbone strengthening kit).To answer your first question they screw (held in place with some thread-lock) into the hub...
I don't have a cage so at present my harnesses are secured to the chassis/floor with the traditional eye-bolts. At the end of each harness strap is a buckle and then a hook (cant think of a better word for it) fixing. The strap threads through a slot in the hook fixing and then back into the...
Can you not just unthread your harness from the buckle with the eye-bolt 'hook' on it, then wrap the harness around the cage and back into the buckle? I cant see that it would make any difference if you substitute the hook for a harness bar.
My Alcons have PF07 pads in and although they are like hitting a brick wall the side effect is lots of dust and if its raining it dries like mud to the wheels, so like I said I used up half a bottle on two wheels alone!!!
That Iron-X is good stuff!!, the dust was so built up thoughthat I ended up using half a bottle just on two wheels!! (Will do the other twonext weekend.) Will buy a big bottle ofthe stuff next time to refill my small squirty bottle. I've noticed that the grooves in my discs arefull with dust...
James, hope you don’t mind me posting my question here, can always start a new thread - I've been meaning to ask what changes you made to your car once you declared it SORN, e.g. did you keep the indicators, and brake lights etc, what other changes did you make? I'm going to try and buy a...
Thanks Ben. I'm only being vain as fancy a set of complimenting blue leads. As mentioned I have a set of reds at the moment but could always sell these.
Hi James. Yes, no doubt they are the best, but would we (the car) ever notice the difference on relatively small and low powered cars such as the Clio??.......... I.e. are they overkill and the blues will still be better than we need - Possibly like having P-Zeros on a Ka to go to the...
Is there any REAL difference between the blue 8mm leads and the red 8.5mm leads when used on the MK2 Clios? I have a red set on at the moment and having OCD fancy changing to blue to colour-coordinate but obviously not if its going to make any difference. (The car is NA but with ITB’S and cams...
Hey Kelv. Yes catches all fitted a couple of weeks ago, I'm not going to bother trimming the hatch as don’t think its worth it for the weight saved. With regards the catches themselves I fixed the long threaded pins to the two small holes left when removing the stopper things in the shell. I...
Whilst it may not be apparent, your insurance company will be looking to recover the money they paid to you from the 3rd party. This is clearly not a 'knock for knock' loss where blame could be apportioned 50/50 as you have been hit from behind, even if you slammed on the brakes because a cat...
