You definately need the battery 'connected' as this regulates the voltage to 12v, the alternator can rise the voltage considerably without it being connected and possible damage, French electrics aint that robust it would seem!
It's a type 063
I had a Bosch silver 5 year guarantee, great battery.
It may be worth checking if you have a charging fault before you splash out - but if thr battery is older than 2 years - probably good to replace anyway.
Just an update on this in case anyone else experiences the same leaky problem.
Got the scuttle panel off today, removed wiper arms/mechanism, washer bottle, etc, got the hose pipe in and could see that the centre section of the scuttle well was filling with water and not draining at all.
Got...
I had some touch-up base coat mixed up at Jawel to the Ixel spec, but it didn't match well at all, and from what I have read you won't get a good match with touch-up anyway - but I thought it was worth trying.
Thank Rob/Bionic
Yes, I know it's not rocket science, but doing this sort of thing for the first time I had some trepedation of breaking clips and so on as these are always a pain to source.
It is not always easy to find how to unclip things - take for instance the pretensioner/airbag plugs...
Hi
Anyone know if the front scuttle panel clips are replaceble and/or available?
These are the white plastic hook-shaped clips attached to the scuttle and hook under the windscreen and hold the scuttle tight against the winscreen on the passenger side. - anybody got a couple to spare?
I've discovered the soggy carpet syndrome.
I've been through a lot of threads about it and more or less have it sussed, but initially require a bit of advice on a few things.
I will be doing this properly e.g. no shortcuts - but it's a driveway job, the plan is to completely remove the...
Thanks for the comments guys.
Interestingly, by chance I met the previous owner of the car today (previous to my Son, that is) and was an interesting chat, although not an intense discussion about the car, but he obviously loved and cared for the car for the years he owned it and no doubt how...
One of my monthy updates.
Still not had much time to spend on the Clioin the last few weeks apart from cleaning, not even had chance to drive it much.
A bit of underbody cleaning under rear arches, put a bit of clear Wayoyl where cars always rust first as a precaution, another gear knob insert...
Do you hear the h/lamp washer pump run -a seperate sound than from the screen washer pump?
Could be the h/l pump or valve, thats what mine was with the same symptom.
I had some 205-110 'touch-up' mixed at the local factors who (did) have a good reputation, but the base/laquer result does not match the orginal at all well, so don't expect too much, it's a difficult colour for touching up, the mix would probably be near enough to spay the whole wheel though.
I am looking for a tyre cover for the 205/45/16, as I carry a spare in the boot (182)
Anyone ever encounter/seen this Ren. part # 82 00 067 335 = spare wheel cover - this appears to be for the 182 but no details.
All the custom ones I've looked at do not list (cover!) a 205/45/16.
Anyone used...
Part only - OEM centre section £150 here:

A summer update - now we have one....
The project has been on the back-burner most of June/July due not only to the bad weather but also because I am having to attend to my Sons other car, which is in a much much worse state and requiring a lot of attention to the bodywork.
However I have...
My 182 had standard back boxes with a straight thru pipe replacing the centre section, to me it seemed just as quiet and certainly was not loud, not sure if the centre section is just an expansion chamber anyway.
Replaced the above system with a stainless RS192 now and it is much louder/deeper...
I'm sure I saw it in the handbook that 4GB is the limit, I have 3 x 4GB sandisk 'cruzer fit' (the tiny ones) and they work out-of-the-box - ready formatted
The display only shows up to 9 CD (folders), if you have folders greater than 9 they will still play but folder 10 shows blank in the...
Here's a conversation topic on bump-steer aimed at those who are technically or practically apt.
Since I've owned this 182, it has a very definate tendancy to bump steer, which makes the car uncomfortable - getting towards unpleasant to drive, the handling is absolutely fine otherwise on smooth...
Not cheap but the proper thing

Are they still available from Renault and is this the part number 82 00 342 834, for the 'extreme' add-on which would be the cup pack I presume, anybody any idea what they cost now?, one only required.
As apparently no one knew, I figured it out myself and have completed the task - these notes are for anyone else replacing a front seat belt and want to know what is involved for DIY, fortunately the pretensioner is not located in the intertia reel.
The car a 182 but probably much the same for...
Hi
I want to replace a worn drivers side front seat belt, (like for like), not found any guide on this - how easy is it and is it DIY?
Anybody done it? if so how - and what are the hazzards with the pretensioner?
Hi
Anybody used Hycote high temperature (VHT) CLEAR laquer?
After cleaning - I am thinking about using it on the alum. plenium (if thats what you call it) and injector cover to stop corrosion, what is the finish like, would prefer a non-gloss finish.
I am not interested in painting these...
Thanks Dan
Have seen them on at least one other 182, but as you say they are fragile and probably get thrown away - I have one missing and the remaining one is split.
Will keep looking.....................
Hi
Looking for a part number or source for two of these.....
These fit either side of the rear bonnet seal
Appears to be made of expanded polystyrene or similar.
Required for my restoration project.
