OK Louis' thanks for reply.
If C/C perhaps gets data from ABS rings and speedo from final drive - these two must be mechanically linked anyway, so thinking about it - speedometer mechanism is over-reading, I feel relieved....and can sleep at night knowing I wasn't exceeding the speed...
Maybe this is common.... I now see a slight discrepancy between the indicated 'speedo' speed and the Cruise Control setting, only about 2 MPH -example. set to 30 MPH on cruise control, and car will attain/show 32 MPH on speedo, this seems to have happened over the last year or so, previously...
Bosch LS6406, fits both front and rear.
They are the original Renault part minus the box and half the price
Oops, sorry I see it is for a 200, so probably not same as for MKII
Thanks for replies, comments and help.
I've looked those links provided and has given me some new ideas or what's out there.
Gally: Why do you have to be up there!! but anyway thanks for your comments about the glass.
>>>>"they know that most people don't care or won't notice", this is...
Thanks for the replies guys, useful input.
I'm not sure what effect wrapping gives, I guess that's some sort of plastic coating? well I'm a bit 'old skool' so would prefer a paint finish, but thanks for the suggestion, was thinking more about graphics, but if so want something tasteful (if...
Well the time has nearly come to make this old car splendid again.
At a distance this looks quite OK but after 125k the exterior is showing its age, this car is nearly fifteen years old and now not worth a lot but this one has sentimental value only so not bothered in worth! I want it...
Bit late, as you may have already fixed this, but as you haven't had any other replies....
Water ingress into wiring, and in particular plug/sockets should be investigated first, these circuits carry so little current that it won't burn off residual oxide deposits that form on the surface in...
You guys like big engines?...saw this at the local meet a couple of weeks ago:
How much is Ford, I cor say, at least a badge on the back end, but fully road going.
Everything in your photos looks normal.
I see a lot of these posts, the 'wet carpets' are pretty much 'normal' for these cars!
The central scuttle drain inlet or outlet is often the culprit, the outlet is an easy cure.
Run your hand down between the back of the engine and the sound...
Thanks guys
I've seen the heat gun method applied to faded black soft plastics like ABS and seems to work but I've also tried compounds that do much the same with less risk.
For black plastics., I swear by Autoglym Bumper Care - the green snotty stuff, not permanent I know but does the business...
When UV faded to pink, anyone know if there any magic compounds or methods to restore these back to red or is replacement or paint the only cure?
Tried a few things but nothing seems to improve these, so looks like not possible?
The 172 has much the same engine so you shouldn't need much advice on that, but lambda sensors, plugs and injectors - were some of the first things I needed to replace to get it to run 100%.
If the smoke is white - could be water in the exhaust - standard twin boxes have a large reservoir for...
Should have gone to Specsavers?
I found the Eibach about the same ride stiffness, and better than previously as at the dame time I fitter new OEM shocks (which may be partly the reason), I've seen that the spring rate may be different in respect that the OEM are more progressive, some say the...
Bit late now, but would have gone for Eibach Proline, springs all round will cost you less that two front Renault, I always like to use OEM, but had a lot of trouble with the Renault springs breaking, had three Ren. broken front springs in 3000mls and I'm a careful driver, now on Prolines, ride...
That effect you get is similar to that I have with my car, although perhaps the effect is not as bad as you describe -or maybe I'm just used to it, I also have 205/45/R16 PS3s fitted incidentally
I think this it is not uncommon on 182s, I have changed track rods and ends, springs, dampers...
Another thumbs up for 'A-Line' in Dudley, proper place to get your car set-up, been there many times through work and with my own cars, mainly for simple tracking though, gets busy at times so worth a call first.
Sorry I can't be much help to you, but sounds like hell with multiple problems going on there.
I think a clue is here
>>>So I have a Clio parked up as been damp inside from leaky sunroof.<<<<
The problem with damp inside, is it finds its way into connectors and oxidises the contacts, most...
I'd agree with last post -essential to get the car proper hot before test, I know this is not always practical, but it can make a difference between pass and fail if emissions are slightly out.
I've got a SGS low profile trolley jack, I find the pivoting handle REALLY useful in confined spaces (inside a small narrow garage), cup is small though - though this is sometimes an advantage.
Even though low profile - this only applies to lifting arm, the reach is not that good for lowered...
Sorry for lack of updates on this project but been really quite with the Clio in 2016.
In June, fitted new Eibach Proline springs all round, plus new Renault OEM front shocks fitted, feels really good, not much else to report apart from replacing a reverse light switch!, really haven't been...
£5 must be a bargain then, probably not worth doing for a 2/3 owner vehicle though, as originally posted-it does take a while as it's likely not a priority with them, -I think it was about 4 weeks in my case.
