A few old Renaultsport Clio Cup cars were out in the LMA Euro Saloons at Castle Combe today, as well as one of the new 197 variants. Nothing too exciting to report, just a few pics...
...oh, and fmp probably has one less car to worry about in Time Attack now, Mr...
Yep I've got pics of Ben, will put them up later.
See Mr Norris wrote off his second car in 4 races, even splitting the grids isn't helping! As well as his it totalled Prebbles Evo AND Kilby in the Black Evo had a huge off at Folly, which eventually ended up with him smashing into the barrier...
I was thinking about this when I published the new comp, you absolutely do not need a close-up or macro lens to enter this. I've never owned a macro lens yet I love macro photography.
A few examples...
Panasonic FZ20
Nikon D50 18-55mm Kit Lens (with magnifying glass)
Even...
Save your money and get the Sigma 10-20, only the most obsessive pixel peeper would see any difference between that and the Nikon 12-24...and those 2mm you would lose with the Nikon really do make a suprising difference when you get this wide.
Congrats to andywright182 for the victory in the last round with this image depicting the subject 'Old & New'...
...the new subject has been chosen by him and is:
Macro / Close Up
Comp runs from now until midnight Monday May 12th. Any photos entered must be taken between now...
If they put just 20% of this money back into genuine green initiatives I might be more receptive, but as it is I don't believe any of it has to be ring fenced for public transport, alternative fuels or anything remotely green.
Here goes again. Vote will be open until Friday evening so hopefully we can get a challenge started ready for the weekend again (so if you are in the running, think of a new challenge now)
Not many entries this time around but some really good pics in the running anyway...
Please select...
That's the other big thing that impresses me with these cars, they were pretty much going out every other session (so running for 30 minutes per hour all day), pushing them unbelievably hard and they hardly ever seem to miss a beat.
The mileage on the orange ones must be building up (as far...
It's definately a Carrera 4 S, I've since found a pic of the car from the rear with, erm, Carrera 4 S written on the back and 4 large exhaust pipes sticking out of it which the GT3s don't have.
Cheers for letting me know, slowly learning the cars I'm not great fans of (or wasn't, BMWs are growing on me when I see them on track now, especially when driven like this one was)
Yep same GT3 RS' are always there, two Orange ones, one with the TOY numberplate and another with a 911 plate. Usually a white one, all black and a couple of green and black ones there as well but didn't see them on track whilst there this time.
Hated 911s until last year, to be honest. Then...
I'm with you there, 2 out on track whilst I was there, respect to anyone who spends £100k on a trackday toy and drives them as hard as they were! Didn't see the Green and Black one this time, that looks stunning as well.
I spent half an hour at Castle Combe yesterday as I was passing anyway, Porsche Club GB had a track day. I'm getting used to what most 911s are now but not sure on this one..?
997 GT3 maybe? It looked similar to the Blue one below (which was a GT3) but was lacking a cage.
Here are...
That might be your problem, you could shoot all day at 1/25 and only get a few sharp shots. Change it to 1/200, once the photos look reasonable on the screen start working your way down, try 1/160 then 1/125, by then they should be looking pretty good with lots of blur in the background.
I...
I spent a whole day out in two of the best-kept oldest villages around (Lacock and Castle Combe) yesterday, and they are so well preserved I couldn't find anything new to contrast against it!
I also spent some time at Castle Combe Circuit so I hoped to get an old Porsche next to a new Porsche...
Yep it was the 300mm f4, and nope I don't have a press pass, although at Combe you are unbelievably close to the circuit so it doesn't matter too much.
GT3 RS pic is slightly cropped (for the panoramic effect), this is the original...
As the weather was nice we decided to visit a few local places today...
Castle Combe Circuit (Westway)
Castle Combe Village
Back to Castle Combe Circuit (Quarry)
Lac**k (ffs!)
Then a sit down in our back garden
A few more here...
At the Haynes Circuit (which is a tripoders delight) I swear I could feel a slight thud when the wheel hit the ground again, and after the event I got pics of my car on 3 wheels at the very points on the track where I could feel it.
Great shot, looks more than possible, particuarly if the corner is just right.
Time for some more Clio tripod pics...?! I've got more than 3 years worth.
