Hi all
Ive been trying to find somewhere to get my clio lowered for ages, thing is no one wants to touch it cos it has a torsion bar.
Has anyone in the Kent area had theres done, if so where and how much?
Thanks

Hi all
I just wanted to make sure i was right with what i was arguing with my mate about.
I drive a mark 1 ph1 clio, and his mum drives a mk1 ph3 clio. He was trying to tell me it was a mark 2 clio and that the latest clio is a mk3????
The way i understand is theres only ever been 5 types...
yeah they seem a decent garage, phoned them yesterday arvo, took the car in at half 8 this morning, was home by 10 :)
custhy!!!
Il prolly do the other bearing in a couple of months, it seems fine at the mo, and my MOT is in Jan so it will be done then if needs be. I just hope the front ones...
Just had the rear drivers side wheel bearing done on my clio, came to £52 (parts, labour and vat).
I was quite chuffed as only had to wait an hour and all seems well. Is this the average going rate?
Hi all
Gonna get some new rear shocks to replace mine (theyve done 70k so pretty done).
I was thinking of doing it myself as it seems like its a question of two bolts?
Has anyone else tried it, and how hard is it compared to changing discs/pads as thats the most daring thing ive done so...
oh so true, i think my front right ones going, when i hit 60 the car sounds like its gonna explode!! :(
it could be a contaminated brake disc, or maybe the rusty lip could be rubbing?
Any luck so far m8? Since youve mentioned it ive noticed something similar on mine, as soon as i hit 60mph theres a really loud humming, if i go faster it seems to quieten down. I never noticed before as whenever i hit the motorways i always turned up the radio to drown out the noise :)
By the...
Just to answer coolspot007007, I doubt it would be a buckled wheel.
That would more likely cause shaking and vibrating than pulling to one side. The easiest way to check is swap the wheels around and see if it pulls to the other side?
Do the pads seem to wear out faster on the right hand...
i aint an expert so im not gonna try and tell u how its done (il leave that to the others). The only advice id offer is take the motor out late at night on quiet roads and throw it into different corners trying different methods. I only drive an RT, but the way i normally do it if im racing is...
Ive always just tightened them by hand as much as i could, then give them a bit more of a turn by standing on the wrench. Never had a problem, and the nuts come off the same as putting them on.
I wouldnt worry about over tightening it unless ur using an air gun, its unlikely to happen using...
sorry to hijack, but whilst were on the topic :)
wot are the best springs and dampers/shocks to get to make the ride more comfortable. Ive got 15"s on my mk1 ph1 and its sitting high at the mo, ideally im after a 40mm drop and to improve comfort, even if it means not gaining on handling etc...
Getting them off shouldnt be too bad then :)
As for the hammerite, i bought a tin today (doing the inside of arches and any lips etc.) it looks an almost identical match. Il have a closer look tomo but it looks spot on. Do many people here to things like handles, wing mirrors, strips etc? or...
Hi all
Im currently planning on colour coding (well getting a close colour match) the bump strips on my mk1 phase1.
Firstly, i was just wondering how they come off? is it pull or slide, and is there a technique to doing it?
Also, if i was to use Silver Metallic Smooth hammerite, would i...
Just been doing the under car seals with goodol hammerite before the winter gets here.
Anyways, ive noticed the inner lip of all four arches are starting to develop the slightest hints of rust. I havent got loads to spend, so i was thinking of getting some silver smooth hammerite (my cars...
 think i need those sun glasses! red text! ahhhh :)
Anyways, first thing id do would be to check with Renault to find out if putting on a different steering wheel would invalidate your warranty for the rest of the car?
To be honest though, for safety reasons alone, its probably worth...
ive noticed a similar sort of thing over the last week or two. Think it seems to be the oil, as i added some today and it seems to have improved it.
Think il book it in for the £15 change with National. Anyone had this done?
yeah i heard about toyos, but a lot of people say the grip is suspect and they where really quick? Im looking to spend up to £100 for the pair and want a set that are most importantly comfortable, and secondly have good grip.
Not really up with it on the 172s, but just seen this on ebay

yeah i got it booked in Tuesday, hopefully should find out the problem once and for all. Getting my alloys back tomo, cant wait to have the motor looking nice again :)
FFS!!! This thread never seems to end! Turns out the problem is still there!!
As i got my 13s back on i checked to see if the shaking occured at the same speed as on my 15s, which it didnt (see previous post). However, as my speedo underread with the 15s on i had to take it faster on the...
UPDATE:
Well what an eventful afternoon. Firstly put two 13s on the front and went for a spin, hit 80 mph and not a shake to be seen :D yeah im happy as i know its only a tyre, or more likely a buckled alloy :(
Anyways, am off to chessington tomo, so decided to put the 13s back on all round...
experience......well ive only been driving 9 months so getting in the car every day is a learning experience :)
I hope it is just one wheel, although i will be pd as i only bought them a few months back. Still any excuse to get a new set of alloys/tyres.
Oh well, off to bed now, will report...
