Thanks for the help Jay :)
took it into nationals today (couldnt be ar*sed to book it in a garage and the one round here is quite good).
They took both rears apart, pads and drum is fine, although on of the cylinders was leaking. Decided to replace both sides as the other one looked pretty...
right well ive just been out and had a look, cant see much so gonna get it in the garage
Its coming from the back brakes - when i was going along just after i started up this morning i pulled up the handbrake slightly and could hear the grinding. Definitely something to do with them.
If its...
thats what i thought, but theres hardly any rust on the discs and it happened tonight - id only been in the pool club about 2 hours, admittedly it was ping hard though
Hey all
When i drive my car from cold i get a kinda grinding noise from the brakes. its hard to tell where but i think its the front ones. The thing is after a couple of minutes it totally stops and everything is quiet again. Brakes are fine, even when cold they stop well :)
The pads and...
yeah theyre great little cars.
I bought one as my 2nd car (had only been driving 6 months). Insurance is cheap (only group 5) and performance is respectable for a 1.4. Had it for 6 months now without any major probs. Had a thermostat go, new front pads and a few annoying rattles but apart from...
almost definitely ur CAT ;-)
give it a wash and ull be fine.
Nah seriously, i get the same from mine when i give it some stick. I dont know if its anything to do with the cold air, but mine seems a lot more smelly the last week or so.

PS, to make sure take it to a garage and...
yeah the fronts are most expensive. I got some quotes for the front when i had the rear done, the average rate was about £70. Thats an average from about 4 different places.

PS make sure theyve got a good press as the 10 tonne ones might not manage it.
well i fitted a set back in July. Done a few K since then and theyve hardly worn down much. The best thing is though, once their bedded in the brake dust is minimal compared to standard pads.

Hey all
over the last few weeks my standard zorst has developed a deep throaty sound ;) I was just wondering if theres any techhy way of depicting wether its starting to blow or not? Ive looked for holes to no avail, so im guessing its the flanges? By the way, could the baffler effect this? as...
my dads new clio has also started rattling. He phoned Renault a couple of days ago, and they told him its a common problem and there is a mod for it. However, they also said the new mod only stops the rattle for a couple of weeks so they are developing a new one. They said they would phone him...
i;ve got 195x50x15 on the front of mine. they rubbed when the tyres were brand new and on full lock, but not very much.
I have 185x55s on the back and the back right rubbed when loaded as the arch is shaped differently to allow for the plastic tube of cables behind the guard. Take a look...
hey m8
ur prolly best of taking it to nationals. £15 for oil, filter and labour. not a bad price as your looking at £15+ just for oil if you do it yourself.

Ok i know this is probably a stupid idea, but anyways here goes :)
Ive just taken my piperx element out to give it a clean up. Anyways, i noticed that the foam isnt attached to the metal inner mesh. What i was wondering was is there any point in the mesh being there? Im pretty sure the foam...
yeah, mine also seems to be worse when the engines cold, either that or my ears just adjust to it and forget about it
I dont think it could be a mount as the noise is definitely from under the car and im 99% sure its the exhaust whacking the engine mount.
I had the car in for a rear bearing...
Hey all
Lately my cars started to develop a knocking noise when cornering, on bumps and changing gear etc. What looks to be the problem is the lower engine mount is banging on the exhaust. When stationary there is about a 1cm gap between them so i guess even minimal movement on the engine is...
good question, surely the insurance company will say that it shouldnt have an MOT if it doesnt have a Cat?
Will putting a new cat on make any difference, or will it be more restrictive?
nah seems way too much hassle to do myself, will prolly end up getting the wrong height and being totally fkd!!
wot sort of price am i looking at to have it done in a garage? I was thinking about an hours work so £40?? i gotta get front springs on the front as well so was thinking i mite as...
i did have a bit of a go but struggled a bit, i was two up and running diluted petrol (had some Wurth injector cleaner in it) oh and i had a fkd rear wheel bearing as well :)
next time il proper go for it.
btw, my mate drives one and is always giving it the biggen on how fast it is :-S
Just wondering how fast these things are and how well they handle. The one im on about is the old box shape escort.
Would an 1.4RT stand a chance?? if not on the straights then maybe on the corners?
is there such thing as a silent de-cat? im not really after extra noise, just better performance. I hear k-tecs silenced one is still loud?
Thanks
