With tax due and no need for it until my next track day which isn't going to be until next year I'm going to SORN the Clio and suspend the insurance.
What's the best way to store it? Where it's going to be parked is on a slight slope so I'm going to chock the wheels and leave it in gear. Should...
I know it is for now, but it should be coming to silver later. I read a week later somewhere but can't see it confirmed, or find out when a week after gold would be.
When were u at combe? I was there a few weeks back.
The primary reason I fitted 15s was the cost. 15" tyres are up to 50% cheaper than 16s. But as a result the car drives so much better. The stock 172 wheels are super heavy, my F1s are significantly lighter. Plus the cornering is better.
For...
Hardly seemed worth changing both after only 3000 miles. Figured one was just faulty, but appears not.
It is used on track, but even that shouldn't kill them that fast. They are OEM Renault shocks.
After replacing one leaking rear shock after only 3000 miles, I've noticed the other is now leaking too.
I've fitted Sportline springs and a Whiteline arb. I've had the arb for ages but the springs are more recent. Is it usual for Sportlines to munch through rear shocks?
Can anyone recommend a good mechanic or someone near Southampton? I'm looking to get my front calipers refurbished, fit some new disks and change the brake fluid, and if I'm honest can't be bothered to find the time to do it myself :).
If they are red Eibachs they are Sportlines which are a 30mm drop at most. If they are grey Eibachs they are the Pros which don't really have a drop.
Either Eibachs on standard shocks is fine and a common mod on here. Been running Sportlines on mine for a while.
I've spent ages trying to find the difference between cup and normal rear shocks, and while they carry different part numbers nobody could provide any documentation on any physical differences between them, so I assumed there couldn't be enough of a difference to worry about. Providing you...
Thanks Tony! Is there a caliper refurb guide or anything anywhere for a noob like me? I'm assuming it will mean disconnecting from the brake lines too so I should replace the fluid after.
I might get someone to do it all for me tbh.
Cheers Tony. I may look into that and a new set of disks first as a cheaper option and see if it solves the issue before splurging out on loads of new bits. Anyone want to refurb my calipers and change my brake fluid?
No not using the hand brake. I don't use the hand brake when parking at home either. If you leave it on for a few weeks the pads rust to the disk, lol.
I agree Tony, sounds like a pad touching when cooling causing a build up. I don't have any of the symptoms of a seased caliper though. How...
When I get back home ill take the wheels off and see what I can find. I just though it was odd that the juddering only happened after lunch when the car had cooled down.
Shims are out, I attacked the carriers with a wire brush when I fitted the pads, and there is some coped grease on the back of them. I did.t need to grind anything down though, they seemed to fit in flat fine and had a little bit of movement around them so I couldnt see what would have needed...
The car is hardly used between track days.
I'm thinking it might be a pad material build up, as it started as a noise with no real vibration through the pedal, whereas when I warped the first set the vibration started first and it never really got that loud, but was very noticeable through...
Looks like I've warped another set of front disks. Or at least done something to them that's created a massive droning vibration. It means I've never gone more than 2 track days on a set of front disks. I warped a set of Renault disks on my 2nd track day, then o. My 3rd had a pad fail which...
